Psa 137:1 | “By the rivers of Babylon.” This psalm was written during the Babylonian Captivity and the author is unknown, though some scholars have suggested Jeremiah. (top) |

Psa 137:7 | “the Edomites.” This refers to the people from the area of Edom, who no doubt rejoiced when Babylon conquered Judah, but also “Edom” was used by the figure synecdoche of the part for Judah’s enemies as a whole.
