Exo 15:25 | “stick.” The Hebrew word is generic and can mean “tree, wood, log, stick, or plank.” Moses would not have plucked up a tree and thrown it, and “log” and “plank” do not fit particularly well either, some “stick” seems to be the best choice here for what Moses threw into the water. “sweet.” This is an idiom meaning good to drink, not sweet as if sugar was added to it. This is a miracle. There is no stick that a person can throw into such a large volume of bitter water that will turn the bitter water sweet to drink so that all Israel can drink it. God healed the water. (top) |
