In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a pan of fire among wood, and like a burning torch among sheaves; and they will consume on the right hand and on the left all the surrounding peoples, but Jerusalem will yet again dwell in their own place, even in Jerusalem. “but Jerusalem will yet again dwell.” This use of “Jerusalem” is the figure of speech metonymy, where “Jerusalem” is put by metonymy for the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the people who live there.
