For the Musical Director.
A Psalm of David.
1 Blessed is he who considers the weak.
Yahweh will deliver him in a time of distress.
2 Yahweh will keep watch over and preserve his life.
He will bless him in the land.
And will not give him over to the desire of his enemies.
3 Yahweh will support him on his sickbed,
you restore his entire bed in his illness.
4 I said, “O Yahweh, be gracious to me!
Heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.”
5 My enemies speak evil against me:
“When will he die, and his name perish?”
6 And even if one comes to see me, he speaks empty words.
His heart gathers wickedness to itself.
When he goes outside, he tells it.
7 All who hate me whisper together against me.
They devise injury for me.
8 They say, “A word from Belial is poured out upon him.
Now that he lies he will rise up no more.”
9 Even my close friend whom I trusted,
who ate my bread,
has lifted up his heel against me.
10 But you, O Yahweh, please show me favor,
and raise me up that I may repay them.
11 By this I know that you delight in me,
because my enemy does not raise a shout of triumph over me.
12 As for me, you support me in my blamelessness,
and cause me to stand in your presence forever.
13 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel,
from everlasting and to everlasting!
Amen and amen.
