A Song of Ascents.
1 “Often have they treated me with hostility from my youth up,”
let Israel now say,
2 “Often have they treated me with hostility from my youth up,
yet they have not prevailed against me.”
3 The plowers have plowed upon my back;
they lengthened their furrows.
4 Yahweh is righteous;
he has cut the rope of the wicked.
5 Let everyone who hates Zion
be put to shame and turned backward.
6 Let them be like grass upon the housetops
that withers before it is pulled up;
7 with which the reaper does not fill his hand,
nor he who gathers grain fill his bosom,
8 and those who pass by will not say,
“May the blessing of Yahweh be upon you;
we bless you in the name of Yahweh.”
