Praise Yah! Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his covenant faithfulness is everlasting.
Who can tell of Yahweh’s mighty deeds or fully declare all his praise?
Blessed are those who maintain justice, who practice righteousness at all times.
Remember me, O Yahweh, in your favor toward your people; visit me with your deliverance,
that I may see the prosperity of your chosen people, that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may celebrate with your inheritance.
We have sinned, just like our fathers. We have committed iniquity. We are guilty.
Our fathers in Egypt failed to understand your wonderful acts. They did not remember the greatness of your covenant faithfulness, but were rebellious at the sea, at the Sea of Reeds.
Yet he delivered them for his name’s sake, so that he might make his strength known.
And he rebuked the Sea of Reeds, and it dried up, so he led them through the deeps as through a wilderness.
So he delivered them from the hand of him who hated them, yes, he redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
The waters covered their foes. There was not a single one left.
Then they believed in his words. They sang his praise.
They quickly forgot his works. They did not wait for his counsel,
but gave in to an overwhelming desire in the wilderness, and tried God in the desert.
So he gave them their request, but sent a consuming disease into their souls.
When they became jealous of Moses in the camp, and Aaron, the holy one of Yahweh.
The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and it engulfed Abiram’s group.
And a fire burned their group; a flame set ablaze the wicked.
They made a calf at Horeb and they bowed down toa a cast metal image.
Thus they exchanged their Glory for a representation of a grass-eating ox.
They forgot God their Savior, the one who had done great things in Egypt,
wondrous works in the land of Ham and awesome things by the Sea of Reeds.
Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the gap before him to turn away his rage from destroying the people.
Then they refused the pleasant land. They did not believe his word,
but they grumbled in their tents and did not listen to Yahweh’s voice.
So he lifted up his hand toward them, to bring them to ruin in the wilderness,
and he dispersed their seed among the nations and scattered them in the lands.
They even yoked themselves to Baal-peor and ate the sacrifices offered to dead gods.
So they made Yahweh angry by their actions. And a plague broke out among them.
Then Phinehas stood up and pronounced judgment, so the plague was restrained.
And it was reckoned to him as righteousness from generation to generation, forever.
Then they moved Yahweh to wrath at the waters of Meribah, so that it went badly for Moses because of them;
because they rebelled against Moses’ spirit, he spoke rashly with his lips.
They did not destroy the peoples as Yahweh commanded them,
but they intermingled with the nations and learned their works,
and they served their idols, which became a snare to them.
They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons,
yes, they shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. So the land was polluted with blood.
Thus they became unclean through their works and acted like a prostitute in their deeds.
Therefore Yahweh’s anger was kindled against his people. Yes, he abhorred his inheritance.
Then he gave them into the hand of the nations. And those who hated them ruled over them.
Their enemies also oppressed them. They were brought into subjection under their hand.
Many times he delivered them, but they rebelled in their counsel, so they sank down in their iniquity.
Yet he looked down upon their distress, when he heard their cry.
Yes, he remembered his covenant for their sake, and he relented according to the greatness of his covenant faithfulness.
And he made them objects of mercy in the presence of their captors.
Save us, O Yahweh our God. Gather us from the nations, to give thanks to your holy name; to pride ourselves in your praise!
Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from everlasting even to everlasting! Let all the people say, “Amen.” Praise Yah!
