If Yahweh does not build a house, those who built it labored in vain. If Yahweh does not watch over a city, the watchman keeps awake in vain.
It is vain for you to rise up early, to lie down late, to eat the bread of strenuous labor; for he gives sleep to his beloved.
Behold, children are an inheritance from Yahweh, the fruit of the womb is a reward.
As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of one’s youth.
Blessed is the man who has his quiver full of them. They will not be put to shame when they speak with their enemies at the gate.
