1Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands on the road of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers.
2But his delight is in Yahweh’s Torah. On his Torah he meditates day and night.
3He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. And in whatever he does, he prospers.
4It is not so with the wicked, because they are like the chaff that the wind drives away.
5Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6For Yahweh knows the road of the righteous, but the road of the wicked will perish.
1Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot a vain thing?
2The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take counsel together against Yahweh and against his Anointed,a saying,
3“Let’s break their restraints apart and cast their cords from us.”
4He who sits in the heavens laughs. The Lord mocks them.
5Then he will speak to them in his anger, and terrify them in his wrath, saying,
6“I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”
7I will proclaim the decree of Yahweh. He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father.
8Ask of me, and I will give the nations as your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.
9You will break them with a rod of iron. You will dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
10So now, be wise, O kings; Accept correction, O judges of the earth.
11Serve Yahweh with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12Kiss the Son lest he be angry and you perish on the road, for his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.
1O Yahweh, how my adversaries are many! Many are those who rise up against me.
2Many there are who say of my soul, “There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah.
3But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
4I cry out to Yahweh with my voice, and he answers me from his holy mountain. Selah.
5I laid down and slept. I awoke, because Yahweh sustains me.
6I will not be afraid of the multitudes of people who have set themselves against me on every side.
7Arise, O Yahweh! Save me, O my God! Oh that you might strike all of my enemies on the cheek. Oh that you might shatter the teeth of the wicked.
8The victory belongs to Yahweh. May your blessing be on your people. Selah.
1Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness. Give me relief in my distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.
2O children of high-born men, how long will my reputation be turned into shame? How long will you love vanity? How long will you seek after falsehood? Selah.
3But know that Yahweh has set apart the godly person for himself; Yahweh will hear when I call to him.
4You can be angry, but do not sin. Speak in your heart on your bed, and keep silent. Selah.
5Sacrifice the sacrifices of righteousness, and trust in Yahweh.
6Many are saying, “Who will show us good?” O Yahweh, lift up upon us the light of your face.
7You have placed joy in my heart; more joy than the season when their grain and new wine abound.
8In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you alone, Yahweh, make me live in safety.
1Give ear to my words, O Yahweh. Consider my sighing.
2Pay attention to the sound of my cry my King and my God, for it is to you that I pray.
3O Yahweh, in the morning you will hear my voice. In the morning I will make preparations for you and will carefully watch.
4For you are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness. Evil cannot sojourn with you.
5The ones who boast cannot stand before your eyes. You hate all workers of wickedness.
6You will destroy those who speak falsehood. The man of blood-guilt and deceit Yahweh abhors.
7But as for me, through the abundance of your covenant loyalty I will enter into your house. I will bow down toward your holy temple in reverence of you.
8Lead me, O Yahweh, in your righteousness because of my enemies. Make your road straight before my face.
9For there is nothing trustworthy in their mouth. Their inward part is destruction. Their throat is an open grave. They flatter with their tongue.
10Declare them guilty, O God. Let them fall by their own plans. Drive them away because of the multitude of their transgressions, for they have disobeyed you.
11But let all those who seek refuge in you rejoice; let them continually shout for joy. And spread your protection over them so that those who love your name may exalt in you.
12For it is you who blesses the righteous person. O Yahweh, you will surround him with favor like a large shield.
1O Yahweh, do not reprove me in your anger, nor correct me in your wrath.
2Show favor unto me, O Yahweh, for I am frail. Heal me, O Yahweh, for my bones are troubled.
3My soul is also very troubled. But you, O Yahweh–how long?
4Return, O Yahweh. Deliver my soul and save me on account of your covenant faithfulness.
5For in death no one remembers you. In Sheol, who can give you praise?
6I am weary with my groaning. Every night I make my bed swim. I flood my couch with my tears.
7My eye wastes away because of grief. It grows old because of all those who act hostile to me.
8Depart from me, all you workers of wickedness, because Yahweh has heard the voice of my weeping.
9Yahweh has heard my supplication. Yahweh accepts my prayer.
10Let all my enemies be ashamed and very troubled. May they turn back, and may they be suddenly ashamed.
1O Yahweh my God, I take refuge in you. Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,
2lest he tears apart my soul like a lion, tearing me apart while there is none to deliver.
3O Yahweh, my God, if I have done this, if there is injustice in my hands,
4if I have done evil to him who was at peace with me or if I have plundered my adversary without cause,
5let the enemy pursue my soul and let him overtake it; and let him tread my life down to the earth and lay my glory in the dust. Selah.
6Arise, O Yahweh, in your anger. Lift up yourself against the fury of my adversaries. Indeed, arouse yourself, my God. You have commanded judgment.
7Let the assembly of the peoples surround you. Sit over them on high.
8Yahweh judges the peoples. Vindicate me, O Yahweh, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity, O Most High.
9Now let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous person; indeed, the one who tests the hearts and kidneys is a righteous God.
10My shield is borne by God who delivers the upright in heart.
11God judges righteously, but, he is a God who has indignation every day.
12If a person does not repent, God will sharpen his sword; he has bent his bow and prepared it.
13He has also prepared for himself the instruments of death. He makes ready his flaming arrows.
14Behold, the unrepentant person is pregnant with iniquity. Yes, he has conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.
15He digs a hole and hollows it out, but he falls into the pit that he made.
16His trouble will return to his own head. Indeed, his violence will come down on the crown of his own head.
17I will praise Yahweh according to his righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of Yahweh Most High.
1O Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. You have set your glory above the heavens!
2From the mouths of babes and infants you have established strength because of your adversaries, to silence the enemy and the avenger.
3When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established,
4what is man, that you think of him, and the son of man, that you visit him?
5For you have made him a little lower than God, and crowned him with glory and honor.
6You made him ruler over the works of your hands. You put all things under his feet:
7all of the sheep and cattle, and even the animals of the field,
8the birds of the heavens, the fish of the sea and whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
9O Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
1I will give thanks to Yahweh with my whole heart. I will recount of all your marvelous works.
2I will rejoice and exult in you. I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
3When my enemies turn back, they will stumble and perish in your presence.
4For you have brought about my justice and my just cause. You sit on the throne judging with righteousness.
5You have rebuked the nations. You have destroyed the wicked. You have blotted out their name forever and ever.
6The enemy has come to an end in perpetual desolations. And cities you have uprooted, the very memory of them has perished.
7But Yahweh will sit as king forever. He has established his throne for the judgment.
8He will judge the world with righteousness; with uprightness He will administer judgment to the peoples.
9Yahweh will also be a high tower for the oppressed person, a high tower in times of trouble.
10Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, O Yahweh, have not forsaken those who seek you.
11Sing praises to Yahweh who dwells in Zion, declare among the people what he has done.
12For he who avenges blood remembers them, he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.
13Have mercy on me, O Yahweh. Look upon my affliction caused by those who hate me, O God who lifts me up from the gates of death,
14so that I may recount all your songs of praise. In the gates of Daughter Zion, I will rejoice in your deliverance.
15The nations have sunk down in the pit that they made. Their foot has been caught in the net that they hid.
16Yahweh has made himself known. He has executed judgment. With the deeds of his hands he strikes down the wicked person. Meditation. Selah.
17The wicked will return to Sheol; even all the nations that forgot God.
18For the needy will not always be forgotten, nor will the hope of the afflicted perish forever.
19Arise, O Yahweh! Do not let mankind prevail. Let the nations be judged in your presence.
20Put them in terror, O Yahweh. Let the nations know that they are only human. Selah.
1Why do you stand at a distance, O Yahweh? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
2In arrogance, a wicked person hunts down an afflicted. They will be caught in the schemes that they devised.
3For the wicked person boasts of his soul’s cravings. He blesses the greedy and curses Yahweh.
4The wicked person, in the pride of his face, does not seek God. “There is no God” is in all his thoughts.
5His roads are firm at all times. He is haughty, and your judgments are far from him. As for all his adversaries, he snorts at them.
6He says in his heart, “I will not be shaken. For generations I will have no trouble.”
7His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and oppression. Under his tongue is trouble and wickedness.
8He lies in ambush near the villages. In the secret places he murders the innocent person. His eyes lie in wait for the helpless.
9He lies in wait in the secret place like a lion in its thicket. He lies in wait to seize the afflicted person. He seizes the afflicted person by drawing him into his net.
10So the crushed one sinks down, and the unfortunate ones fall under his might.
11He says in his heart, “God has forgotten. He hides his face. He never saw it.”
12Arise, O Yahweh! O God, lift up your hand! Do not forget the afflicted.
13Why does the wicked person spurn God and say in his heart, “You will not hold me accountable”?
14On the contrary, you yourself see trouble and vexation. You look at it to take it into your hand. The afflicted person frees himself because of you. You become a helper of the orphan.
15Break the strength of the wicked person. And as for the evil person, you will call his wickedness to account until you find none.
16Yahweh is King forever and ever! The nations will perish from his land.
17O Yahweh, you have listened to the desire of the afflicted. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to attentively listen
18in order to judge the orphan and the oppressed person so that the man of the earth will terrorize them no longer.
1In Yahweh I have sought refuge. How can you say to my soul, “Flee like a bird to your mountain,”
2for, behold, the wicked bend their bows. They set their arrows on the strings to shoot in the darkness at the upright in heart.
3When the foundations are destroyed, what can a righteous person do?
4Yahweh is in his holy temple. Yahweh’s throne is in the heavens. His eyes observe. His eyelids put people to the test.
5Yahweh puts the righteous person to the test, but his soul hates the wicked person and the one who loves violence.
6He will rain down coals upon the wicked; fire and sulfur and scorching wind will be the portion of their cup.
7For Yahweh is righteous. He loves righteousness. The upright person will see his face.
1Help, O Yahweh, for the godly person has come to an end. For the faithful have vanished from among mankind.
2They speak deceit, each person to his neighbor. They speak with flattering lips and with a double heart.
3O Yahweh, cut off all the flattering lips and the tongue that speaks boastful things,
4who have said, “With our tongue we will prevail. Our lips are our own. Who is our master?”
5“Because of the devastation of the afflicted, and because of the groaning of the needy, I will now arise,” says Yahweh; “I will set him in safety from those who malign him.”
6The words of Yahweh are pure words, like silver refined in a clay furnace, purified seven times.
7You, O Yahweh, will cover them. You will guard them from this generation forever.
8The wicked strut about, back and forth, as what is vile among mankind is exalted.
1How long, O Yahweh, will you go on forgetting me? How long will you hide your face from me?
2How long must I be anxious in my soul, having sorrow in my heart every day? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
3Consider, and answer me, O Yahweh, my God. Enlighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.
4Lest my enemy says, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my adversaries rejoice when I am shaken.
5But I trust in your covenant faithfulness. My heart will rejoice in your deliverance.
6I will sing to Yahweh, because he has dealt bountifully with me.
1The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt. They have committed an abominable work. There is no one who does good.
2Yahweh looked down from the heavens upon mankind, to see if there were any who understood, who were seeking God.
3They have all turned aside. They have together become corrupt. There is none who does good, not even one.
4Do any of the workers of wickedness understand? They devour my people as they devour bread, and they do not call on Yahweh.
5There they are, in great dread, for God is with the generation of the righteous.
6You evildoers frustrate the plan of the afflicted person but Yahweh is his refuge.
7Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When Yahweh restores his captive people, Jacob will rejoice, and Israel will be glad.
1O Yahweh, who can sojourn in your tent? Who can live on your holy mountain?
2He who walks blamelessly, and performs righteousness, and speaks truth in his heart;
3who does not slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his friend, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor;
4in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who have the fear of Yahweh; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change his mind;
5who does not lend his money with interest, nor takes a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.
1Keep watch over me, O God, for I take refuge in you.
2I say to Yahweh, “You are my Lord. My welfare surely rests upon you.”
3You have said to the holy ones who are in the land: “they are also majestic; all of my delight is in them.”
4Those who have acquired another god, their pains will be multiplied. I will not offer their drink offerings of blood, nor will I pronounce their names on my lips.
5Yahweh is my assigned portion and my cup. You support my lot.
6The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places. Yes, I have a beautiful inheritance.
7I will bless Yahweh who has given me counsel. Yes, my kidneys instruct me in the night seasons.
8I have always kept Yahweh in my sight; because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
9Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices. Yes, my body will also dwell in safety.
10For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor will you allow your faithful one to see the pit.
11You will make known to me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
1Hear, O Yahweh, my righteous plea; Give attention to my lamenting cry. Heed my prayer that is not from deceitful lips.
2Let my vindication come forth from your presence. Let your eyes see upright things.
3You have tested my heart. You have visited me in the night. You have tested me and not found anything. I have resolved that my mouth will not disobey.
4As for the works of people, by the word of your lips I have guarded myself from the paths of the violent person.
5My steps have held fast to your paths. My feet were not shaken.
6I have called on you, because you will answer me, O God. Incline your ear to me. Hear my plea.
7Reveal the wonder of your covenant faithfulness, O Savior of those who take refuge at your right hand from those who rise up against them.
8Guard me as the apple of your eye. Hide me under the shadow of your wings,
9from the presence of the wicked who oppress me, my mortal enemies who surround me.
10They have closed their own fat heart. Their mouth speaks arrogantly.
11They have now surrounded me in my steps. They set their eyes to cast me down to the earth.
12His likeness is that of a lion longing to tear its prey, yes, like a young lion crouching in hiding places.
13Arise, O Yahweh, confront his face. Bring him down low. Deliver my soul from the wicked person by your sword,
14from men by your hand, O Yahweh, from men of the world whose portion is among the living. But your treasured people, you have filled their belly. Your children are satisfied, and they store up their excess for their children.
15“I, with righteousness, will see your face. I will be satisfied with seeing your form when I awake.”
1“I love you, O Yahweh, my strength.”
2Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, I will take refuge in him; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.
3I will call on Yahweh, who is worthy to be praised, and I will be saved from my enemies.
4The cords of death surrounded me. The torrents of Belial made me afraid.
5The cords of Sheol were around me. The snares of death lay ahead of me.
6In my distress, I called on Yahweh, and I cried for help to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry to him came into his ears.
7Then the earth shook and trembled. The foundations also of the mountains quaked and were shaken because he was angry.
8Smoke arose from his nostrils. Fire out of his mouth devoured. Burning coals flamed forth from him.
9He spread apart the heavens and came down. A thick cloud was under his feet.
10He rode on a cherub and flew. Yes, he glided swiftly on the wings of the wind.
11He made darkness his hiding place, his canopy around him, the darkness of waters, the thick clouds of the skies.
12From the brightness before him, his thick clouds passed by with hail and coals of fire.
13Yahweh also thundered in the heavens. And the Most High gave forth his voice: hail and coals of fire.
14He sent out his arrows and scattered them; And he multiplied lightning bolts and confused them.
15Then the sources of water appeared. The foundations of the world were laid bare by your rebuke, O Yahweh, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.
16He stretched out his hand from on high and took me; he drew me out of mighty waters.
17He delivered me from my strong enemy; from those who hate me, from those who were mightier than I.
18They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but Yahweh was my support.
19He brought me out into an open space. He delivered me because he delighted in me.
20Yahweh rewarded me according to my righteousness. He paid me back according to the purity of my hands.
21For I have kept the ways of Yahweh and have not wickedly departed from my God.
22For all his laws are before me. I have not put away his statutes from me.
23I was blameless with him. I kept myself from my iniquity.
24So Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the purity of my hands in his eyes.
25With the mercifula you are merciful. With the blameless man you are blameless.
26With the pure you are pure. With the crooked you are shrewd.
27For you will save the afflicted people, but the haughty eyes you will bring down.
28For you will light my lamp, O Yahweh. And my God lightens my darkness.
29For by you I can run against a troop. By my God, I leap over a wall.
30As for God, his way is perfect. The word of Yahweh is tested. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him.
31For who is God, except Yahweh? Who is a rock besides our God,
32the God who arms me with strength and makes my way blameless?
33He makes my feet like the does’ feet and sets me on my high places.
34He trains my hands for battle so that my arms bend a bow of bronze.
35You have given me the shield of your salvation. And your right hand supports me. And your gentleness has made me great.
36You have enlarged my steps under me. My feet have not slipped.
37I will pursue my enemies and overtake them. And I will not return until they are finished.
38I will crush them so that they cannot rise. They will fall dead under my feet.
39For you have armed me with strength for the battle. You have subdued under me those who rose up against me.
40You made my enemies turn their backs to me; I destroyed those who hate me.
41They cried out for help, but there was none to save; to Yahweh, but he did not answer them.
42Then I crushed them like dust before the wind. I threw them out like the dirt of the streets.
43You have delivered me from the strifes of people. You have made me the head of nations. A people whom I have not known will serve me.
44As soon as their ears hear, they will obey me. Foreigners will submit themselves to me.
45Foreigners will lose courage and will come trembling out of their strongholds.
46Yahweh lives! Blessed be my rock! Exalted be the God of my salvation.
47the God who executes vengeance for me, who subdues peoples under me,
48who rescues me from my enemies. Yes, you lift me up above those who rise up against me. You deliver me from the violent person.
49Therefore I will give thanks to you, Yahweh, among the nations, and I will make music to your name.
50He gives great salvation to his king and shows covenant faithfulness to his anointed one, to David and to his seed forevermore.
1The heavens declare the glory of God. The expanse shows the works of his hands.
2Day after day they pour forth speech, and night after night they declare knowledge.
3There is no speech and there are no words– their voice is not heard.
4Yet their measuring line has gone out through all the earth, their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,
5which comes out like a groom leaving his chamber, like a strong man rejoicing to run his course.
6His coming out is from the end of the heavens, and his circuit is to their other end; there is nothing hidden from its heat.
7Yahweh’s law is perfect, restoring the soul. Yahweh’s testimony is sure, making wise the simple.
8Yahweh’s precepts are right, rejoicing the heart. Yahweh’s commandment is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9The fear of Yahweh is clean, enduring forever. Yahweh’s judgments are true, and righteous altogether.
10More to be desired are they than gold, yes, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.
11Moreover by them is your servant warned. In keeping them there is great reward.
12Who can discern his own errors? Forgive me from hidden errors.
13Keep back your servant also from arrogant ones. Let them not have dominion over me. Then I will be upright. I will be blameless and innocent of great transgression.
14Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your eyes, O Yahweh, my rock and my redeemer.
1May Yahweh answer you in a time of distress. May the name of the God of Jacob set you up on high.
2May he send you help from the sanctuary and may he grant you support from Zion.
3May he remember all your offerings and may he accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah.
4May He grant you help according to your heart, and may he fulfill all your plans.
5We will shout with joy at your deliverance. In the name of our God we will raise up a banner. May Yahweh grant all your petitions.
6Now I know that Yahweh delivers his anointed one. He will answer him from his holy heavens, with the delivering strength of his right hand.
7Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we remember the name of Yahweh our God.
8They will bow down and fall, but we will stand up and help one another up.
9O Yahweh, save the king! May he answer us when we call!
1The king rejoices in your strength, O Yahweh! How greatly he rejoices in your deliverance!
2You have given him his heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.
3For you meet him with the blessings of goodness. You set a crown of fine gold on his head.
4He asked you for life; you gave it to him, even length of days forever and ever.
5His glory is great through your deliverance. You place splendor and majesty upon him.
6For you grant him blessings forever. You make him glad with joy by your presence.
7For the king trusts in Yahweh. And by the covenant faithfulness of the Most High, he will not be shaken.
8Your hand will find out all of your enemies. Your right hand will find out those who hate you.
9You will make them like a fiery furnace at the time of your presence. Yahweh will swallow them up in his anger. The fire will devour them.
10You will destroy their offspring from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
11For they intended evil against you. They plotted wicked devices against you that will not succeed.
12For you will make them turn their shoulder when you aim drawn bows at their faces.
13Be exalted, O Yahweh, in your strength, we will sing and make music about your might
1My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you far from my deliverance and from the words of my groaning?
2My God, I cry out in the daytime, but you do not answer, and at night, but I find no rest.
3But you are holy, sitting enthroned upon the praises of Israel.
4Our fathers trusted in you. They trusted, and you delivered them.
5They cried out to you and were delivered. They trusted in you and were not disappointed.
6But I am a worm and not a man; scorned by humankind and despised by people.
7All those who see me mock me. They insult me with their lips. They shake their heads, saying,
8“He trusts in Yahweh, so let him deliver him. Let him rescue him, since he delights in him.”
9But you brought me out of the womb. You made me trust even at my mother’s breasts.
10I was thrown on you from my mother’s womb. You have been my God from my mother’s belly.
11Do not be far from me, for trouble is near. For there is no one to help.
12Many bulls have surrounded me. Mighty bulls of Bashan have encircled me.
13They open their mouths wide against me, like a lion tearing prey and roaring.
14I am poured out like water. All my bones are dislocated. My heart is like wax; it is melted within me.
15My strength is dried up like a potsherd. And my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. And you lay me in the dust of death.
16For dogs have surrounded me. A company of evildoers have enclosed me. They have pierced my hands and feet.
17I can count out all of my bones. They look, they stare at me.
18They divide my garments among them. They cast lots for my clothing.
19But you, O Yahweh, do not be distant! O my Strength, hurry to help me.
20Deliver my soul from the sword, my only life from the power of the dog.
21Deliver me from the lion’s mouth! Yes, from the horns of the wild oxen, you have answered me.
22I will declare your name to my brothers. In the midst of the assembly, I will praise you.
23You who fear Yahweh, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, glorify him! Tremble before him, all you descendants of Israel!
24For he has not despised or ignored the affliction of the afflicted person, nor has he hidden his face from him; but when he cried out to him, he heard.
25From you comes my praise in the great assembly. I will fulfil my vows before those who fear him.
26The afflicted will eat and be satisfied. Those who seek Yahweh will praise him. May your hearts live forever.
27All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to Yahweh. All the families of the nations will bow downa in your presence.
28For the kingship is Yahweh’s. And he rules over the nations.
29All the prosperous of the earth will eat and worship. All those who go down to the dust will kneel before his face, even he who cannot keep his soul alive.
30Offspring will serve him. The next generation will be told about the Lord.
31They will come and will declare his righteousness to a people that will be born, for he has done it.
1Yahweh is my shepherd, I will not lack.
2He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.
3He restores my soul. He guides me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.
6Surely goodness and covenant faithfulness will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in Yahweh’s house for my length of days.
1The earth is Yahweh’s, and all it contains; the world, and those who dwell in it.
2For he has founded it on the seas and established it on the rivers.
3Who may ascend to the mountain of Yahweh? And who may stand in his holy place?
4He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to what is false and has not sworn deceitfully.
5He will receive a blessing from Yahweh, even righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6This is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob. Selah.
7Lift up your heads, O gates! Yes, be lifted up, O everlasting doors, and the King of glory will enter.
8Who is this King of glory? Yahweh, strong and mighty, Yahweh, mighty in battle.
9Lift up your heads, O gates; yes, lift them up, O everlasting doors, and the King of glory will enter.
10Who is he, this King of glory? Yahweh of Armies— He is the King of glory. Selah.
1To you, O Yahweh, I lift up my soul.
2O my God, I have trusted in you. Do not let me be ashamed. Do not let my enemies exult over me.
3Indeed, all of those who wait for you will not be ashamed Those acting unfaithfully without reason will be ashamed.
4Declare to me your ways, O Yahweh! Teach me your paths!
5Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; I wait for you all day long.
6O Yahweh, remember your tender mercies and your covenant faithfulness, for they are from ancient times.
7Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions. Remember me according to your covenant faithfulness, for your goodness’ sake, O Yahweh.
8Yahweh is good and upright, therefore he will teach sinners in the way.
9He will lead the afflicted in justice. Indeed, he will teach the afflicted his road.
10All the paths of Yahweh are covenant faithfulness and truth, For those who are keeping his covenant and his laws.
11For your name’s sake, O Yahweh, you forgave my iniquity, for it is great.
12What is the person who fears Yahweh? He will teach him in the way that he should choose.
13His soul will spend the night in wellbeing. And his seed will inherit the land.
14The counsel of Yahweh is for those who fear him. He will show them his covenant.
15My eyes are continually on Yahweh, for he will remove my feet out of the net.
16Turn to me and show me favor, for I am all alone and afflicted.
17The troubles of my heart have been enlarged. Oh bring me out of my distresses.
18Look upon my affliction and my trouble, and take away all my sins.
19Look upon my enemies, for they are many. They hate me with violent hatred.
20Keep watch over my soul and deliver me. Do not let me be ashamed, for I have sought refuge in you.
21May integrity and uprightness guard me, for I have waited for you.
22Redeem Israel, O God, out all of his troubles.
1Judge me, O Yahweh, for I have walked in my integrity. Yes, I have trusted in Yahweh. I have not wavered.
2Examine me, O Yahweh, and try me. Test my kidneys and my heart.
3For your covenant faithfulness is before my eyes. Yes, I have walked around continually in your faithfulness.
4I do not sit with deceitful people, nor will I go in with hypocrites.
5I hate the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.
6I will wash my hands in innocence; and I will walk around your altar, O Yahweh,
7to hear the sound of thanksgiving and to recount all your wondrous works.
8O Yahweh, I love that you dwell in your house, yes, the place where your glory abides.
9Do not gather up my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty people
10in whose hands is wickedness, yes, their right hand is full of bribery.
11But as for me, I will walk in my integrity. Redeem me and show me favor.
12My foot stands on level ground. In the assemblies I will bless Yahweh
1Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom should I fear? Yahweh is the stronghold of my life. Whom should I dread?
2When evildoers approached me to devour my flesh, my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.
3Though an army should encamp against me, my heart will not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be trusting.
4One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek: to dwell in the house of Yahweh all the days of my life, to see Yahweh’s beauty and to inquire in his temple.
5For in the day of trouble he will hide me in his place of refuge, he will hide me under the cover of his tent. He will raise me upon a rock.
6So now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me. I will offer sacrifices in his tent with a joyful shout. I will sing, yes, I will make music to Yahweh.
7Hear, O Yahweh, my voice when I call. Show me favor, and answer me.
8When you said, “Seek my face,” my heart said to you, “I will seek your face, O Yahweh.”
9Do not hide your face from me. Do not turn your servant away in anger. You have been my help. Do not forsake me, nor leave me, O God of my salvation.
10For if my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will receive me.
11Teach me your road, O Yahweh. Yes, lead me in the level path because of my enemies.
12Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, for false witnesses have risen up against me and they violently witness against me.
13Surely I still believe: I will see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living.
14Wait for Yahweh. Be strong and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh.
1To you, O Yahweh, I call. My rock, do not be deaf to me; lest, if you are silent to me, I would become like those who go down into the pit.
2Hear the voice of my petitions when I cry out to you for help, when I lift up my hands toward your most holy place.
3Do not draw me away with the wicked, Even with the workers of wickedness who speak peace with their neighbors when evil is in their hearts.
4Give to them according to their work and according to the wickedness of their deeds. Give to them according to the work of their hands. Repay them what they deserve.
5Because they do not understand the works of Yahweh, nor the deeds of his hands, he will break them down and not build them up.
6Blessed be Yahweh, because he has heard the voice of my petitions.
7Yahweh is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart rejoices. I will praise him with my song.
8Yahweh is the strength of his people. Yes, he is a stronghold of salvation to his anointed one.
9Deliver your people and bless your inheritance. Be their shepherd also, and carry them forever.
1Render to Yahweh, you sons of God, render to Yahweh glory and strength.
2Render to Yahweh the glory due to his name. Worship Yahweh in holy attire.
3Yahweh’s voice is on the waters. The God of glory thunders, Yahweh is on many waters.
4Yahweh’s voice is powerful. Yahweh’s voice is full of majesty.
5The voice of Yahweh breaks the cedars. Yes, Yahweh breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
6Yes, he makes Lebanon skip like a calf; and Sirion skip like a young wild ox.
7Yahweh’s voice strikes with flames of fire.
8Yahweh’s voice causes the wilderness to tremble. Yahweh causes the wilderness of Kadesh to tremble.
9Yahweh’s voice makes the trees writhe, and strips the forests bare. But in his temple everything says, “Glory!”
10Yahweh sat enthroned at the flood. Yes, Yahweh is sitting enthroned as king forever.
11Yahweh will give strength to his people. Yahweh will bless his people with peace.
1I will extol you, O Yahweh, for you have drawn me up and have not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2O Yahweh my God, I cried out to you for help, and you have healed me.
3O Yahweh, you have brought up my soul from Sheol. You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
4Sing praise to Yahweh, O you faithful ones of his. Yes, give thanks to his holy name.
5For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning.
6As for me, I said in my tranquility, “I will never be shaken.”
7O Yahweh, when you favored me, you made my mountain stand strong; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed.
8I cried out to you, O Yahweh. Yes, to the Lord I sought favor:
9“What profit is there in my blood if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise you? Will it declare your faithfulness?
10Hear, O Yahweh, and show me favor. O Yahweh, be my helper.”
11You have turned my mourning into dancing for me. You have unwrapped my sackcloth and wrapped my waist with gladness,
12in order that my glory will make music to you and will not be silent O Yahweh my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
1In you, O Yahweh, I seek refuge; may I never be ashamed. Deliver me by your righteousness.
2Turn your ear to me. Deliver me quickly. Be to me a rock of protection, a stronghold to deliver me.
3For you are my rock and my fortress, therefore for your name’s sake you will guide me and lead me.
4Rescue me out of the net that they have secretly set for me, for you are my protection.
5Into your hand I entrust my spirit. You redeem me, O Yahweh, God of faithfulness
6I hate those who are devoted to worthless idols, but I trust in Yahweh.
7I will be glad and rejoice in your covenant faithfulness, for you have seen my affliction. You know the distresses of my soul.
8You have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy. You have set my feet in a large place.
9Have favor on me, O Yahweh, for I am in distress. My eye is wasted away in grief; my soul, even my body.
10For my life is spent with sorrow, And my years with groaning. My strength fails because of my iniquity. My bones are wasted away.
11Because of all my adversaries I have become a disgrace, even much more to my neighbors, and a fear to those who know me. Those who saw me on the street fled from me.
12I have been forgotten from their hearts like a dead man. I am like a broken vessel.
13For I have heard the slander of many—terror is on every side!— as they conspire together against me, as they plot to take away my soul.
14But I trust in you, O Yahweh. I said, “You are my God.”
15My times are in your hand. Deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those pursuing me.
16Make your face to shine on your servant. Deliver me because of your covenant faithfulness!
17Let me not be ashamed, O Yahweh, for I have called on you. Let the wicked be ashamed! Let them be silent in Sheol.
18Let the deceptive lips become mute, those that speak arrogantly against a righteous person with pride and contempt.
19How great is your goodness that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you have done for those who have sought refuge in you in the presence of the sons of men!
20In the covering of your presence you will hide them from the plotting of man. You will shelter them secretly in a dwelling away from the strife of tongues.
21Blessed be Yahweh, for he has marvelously performed his covenant faithfulness to me in a city under siege.
22As for me, I said in my alarm, “I am cut off from before your eyes.” Yet surely you have heard the sound of my petitions when I cried out to you for help.
23Love Yahweh, all you his faithful ones! Yahweh watches over the loyal and fully repays the person who acts with pride.
24Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for Yahweh.
1Blessed is the person Whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2Blessed is the person to whom Yahweh does not count iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.
3When I kept silent, my bones wore out because of my groaning all day long.
4For day and night your hand was heavy on me. My vitality was turned as in the heat of summer. Selah.
5I declared my sin to you. I did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6For this, may everyone who is faithful pray to you in a time when you may be found. Surely if there is a flood of mighty waters, they will not reach him.
7You are a covering for me. You will guard me from distress. You will surround me with ringing cries of deliverance. Selah.
8I will instruct you and teach you in the road that you are to walk. I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
9Do not be like a horse or like a mule, which do not understand, which are controlled by bit and bridle or else they will not come near to you.
10Many pains belong to the wicked person, but covenant faithfulness will surround the one who trusts in Yahweh.
11Be glad in Yahweh and rejoice, O you righteous ones! Yes, shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart!
1Exult in Yahweh, O you righteous ones! Praise is fitting for the upright.
2Offer praise to Yahweh with a lyre. Sing praises to him with a harp of ten strings.
3Sing to him a new song. String skillfully accompanied with a shout of joy!
4For the word of Yahweh is upright. Yes, each of his works is done in faithfulness.
5He loves righteousness and justice. The earth is full of the covenant faithfulness of Yahweh.
6By the word of Yahweh, the heavens were made; Yes, by the breath of his mouth, all their armies.
7He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap. He places the depths into storehouses.
8Let all the earth fear Yahweh. Let all the inhabitants of the earth stand in awe of him.
9For he spoke, and it was done. He commanded, and it stood firm.
10Yahweh crushes the counsel of the nations. He frustrates the plans of the peoples.
11The counsel of Yahweh will stand forever; the plans of his heart to all generations.
12Blessed is the nation whose God is Yahweh; the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.
13Yahweh looks from heaven. He sees all the children of men.
14From the place of his habitation he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth,
15The creator of their hearts; he understands all of their works.
16There is no king saved by the multitude of an army. A mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
17A horse is a deceptive thing for one’s deliverance, neither can it rescue any by its great power.
18Behold, Yahweh’s eye looks towards those who fear him, on those who hope in his covenant faithfulness
19to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in the famine.
20Our soul has waited for Yahweh. He is our help and our shield.
21For our heart rejoices in him, because we have trusted in his sacred name.
22Let your covenant faithfulness be on us, O Yahweh, since we have hoped in you.
1I will bless Yahweh at all times. His song of praise will always be in my mouth.
2My soul will boast in Yahweh. May the afflicted hear it and may they rejoice!
3Oh magnify Yahweh with me! Let us exalt his name together!
4I sought Yahweh, and he answered me, yes, he delivered me from all my fears.
5Look to him and be radiant. Then their faces will never be ashamed.
6This afflicted person cried out and Yahweh heard him, and delivered him out of all his distress.
7The angel of Yahweh encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.
8Oh taste and see that Yahweh is good. Blessed is the man who seeks refuge in him.
9Fear Yahweh, O you his holy ones, for those who fear him have no lack.
10The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek Yahweh will not lack any good thing.
11Come, you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of Yahweh.
12Who is the person who desires life, loving his days, so that he may see good?
13Guard your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.
14Turn away from evil and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it.
15Yahweh’s eyes are toward the righteous. Yes, his ears listen to their cry for help.
16Yahweh’s face is against those who do evil, to destroy the memory of them from the earth.
17The righteous cry out and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their distresses.
18Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart and he delivers those who have a crushed spirit.
19Many evils happen to a righteous person, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all.
20He keeps watch over all of his bones. Not one of them is broken.
21Evil will kill a wicked person. Yes, those who hate a righteous person will suffer punishment.
22Yahweh redeems the soul of his servants. Indeed, none of those who seek refuge in him will suffer punishment.
1Contend, O Yahweh, with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me.
2Take hold of shield and buckler and stand up for my help.
3And draw the spear and lance to meet those who pursue me. Tell my soul, “I am your salvation.”
4Let those who seek after my soul be ashamed and humiliated. Let those who devise evil against me be turned back and ashamed.
5Let them become like chaff before the wind, when the angel of Yahweh drives them away.
6Let their road be dark and slippery, when the angel of Yahweh is pursuing them.
7For without cause they have hidden their net in a pit for me; without cause they have dug a pit for my soul.
8Let destruction come on him unawares. Yes, let his own net that he has hidden capture him. Let him fall into that very destruction.
9Then my soul will be joyful in Yahweh. It will rejoice in his salvation.
10All my bones will say, “Yahweh, who is like you, who delivers the afflicted person from him who is too strong for him; yes, the afflicted person and the needy from one who robs him?”
11Violent witnesses rise up. They interrogate me about things of which I am unaware.
12They repay me evil instead of good to the bereavement of my soul.
13But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth. I humbled my soul with fasting, But my prayer returned into my own bosom.
14I walked to and fro as though he had been a friend or a brother to me. I bowed down, dressed in dark clothing like the mourning for a mother.
15But at my stumbling, they rejoiced, and assembled together. The oppressors gathered themselves together against me Whom I did not know. They slandered me and did not cease.
16With godless and relentless mocking, they gnashed their teeth at me.
17O Lord, how long will you look on? Rescue my soul from their ravages, my only life from young lions.
18I will give you thanks in the great assembly. I will praise you among many people.
19Do not let those who are my deceitful enemies rejoice over me; neither let those who hate me without a cause wink their eyes.
20For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.
21Yes, they opened their mouth wide against me. They said, “Aha! Aha! Our eyes have seen it!”
22You have seen it, O Yahweh. Do not keep silent! O Lord, do not be far away from me.
23Rouse yourself! Yes, rise up to justice for me, O my God! Yes, O Lord, rouse yourself on behalf of my dispute.
24Judge me, O Yahweh my God, according to your righteousness. And do not let them rejoice over me.
25Do not let them say in their heart, “Aha! Our desire!” Do not let them say, “We have swallowed him up!”
26Let them be ashamed and humiliated together; those who rejoiced at my misfortune. Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me.
27Let them shout for joy and be glad those who delight in my righteousness. Yes, let them say continually, “Let Yahweh be magnified, who delights in the well-being of his servant!”
28And my tongue will proclaim your righteousness, singing a song of praise all day long.
1An inspired utterance is within my heart about the transgression of the wicked person: “There is no fear of God before his eyes.”
2For he flatters himself in his own eyes; unable to detect his iniquity and come to hate it.
3The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit. He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
4He plots wickedness while lying upon his bed. He sets himself on a road that is not good. He does not reject evil.
5Your covenant faithfulness, O Yahweh, is in the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches the clouds.
6Your righteousness is like the mountains of God. Your judgments are like the great depths. O Yahweh, you will deliver man and animal.
7How precious is your covenant faithfulness, O God! Yes, the children of men seek refuge under the shadow of your wings.
8They will drink from the abundance of your house. Yes, you will give them to drink from the river of your Eden.
9For with you is the fountain of life. In your light will we see light.
10Oh extend your covenant faithfulness to those who know you, yes, your righteousness to the upright in heart.
11Do not let the foot of pride come against me. Do not let the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12The workers of iniquity are there; fallen. They are thrust down and are not able to rise.
1Do not be agitated because of evildoers, nor be envious against those who work injustice.
2For they will wither quickly like the grass and they will wilt like the green herb.
3Trust in Yahweh and do good. Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
4Yes, delight yourself in Yahweh, and he will give you the petitions of your heart.
5Commit your road to Yahweh. Yes, trust in him, and he will do it:
6he will bring forth your righteousness like the light, and your justice as the noonday sun.
7Keep quiet before Yahweh and wait patiently for him. Do not be agitated because of the one who makes his road prosper; because of the person who carried out wicked plans.
8Cease from anger and forsake wrath. Do not be agitated, it leads to evildoing.
9For evildoers will be cut off, but those who wait for Yahweh will inherit the land.
10Yet a little while and the wicked will be no more. Yes, though you look all over for his place, yet he will not be.
11But the humble will inherit the land, and will delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
12A wicked person is against the righteous person, and gnashes at him with his teeth.
13The Lord laughs at him, for he sees that his day is coming.
14The wicked have drawn out a sword, and have bent their bow to cause the afflicted person and poor person to fall; to slaughter those who are upright in their road.
15Their sword will enter into their own heart. And their bows will be broken.
16Better is a little that the righteous person has than the abundance of many wicked people.
17For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but Yahweh supports the righteous.
18Yahweh knows the days of the blameless. Their inheritance will be forever.
19They will not be ashamed in an evil time. Yes, in times of famine they will be satisfied.
20For the wicked will perish. Yes, the enemies of Yahweh will be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish— vanish like the smoke.
21A wicked person borrows and does not repay, but a righteous person shows favor and gives.
22For those who are blessed by him will inherit the land. But those who are cursed by him will be cut off.
23A man’s steps are established by Yahweh. He delights in his roadway.
24If he falls, he will not be hurled down, for Yahweh supports his hand.
25I have been young and now am old, yet I have not seen a righteous person forsaken, nor his offspring begging for bread.
26All day long he shows favor and lends. And his offspring is blessed.
27Turn from evil, and do good. Then live forever.
28For Yahweh loves justice, and does not forsake his faithful ones. They are guarded forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off.
29The righteous will inherit the land and live in it forever.
30The mouth of a righteous person utters wisdom. Yes, his tongue speaks justice.
31The Torah of his God is in his heart. His steps will not waver.
32A wicked person spies upon the righteous person and seeks to kill him.
33Yahweh will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is brought to trial.
34Wait for Yahweh and keep watch over his road, and he will raise you up to inherit the land. When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.
35I have seen a wicked person acting violently, flourishing like a luxurious tree in its native soil.
36But I passed by, and behold, he was not. Yes, I sought him, but he could not be found.
37Watch a blameless person and see the upright, for there is a future for a person of peace.
38But those who rebel, they will be destroyed together. The future of the wicked will be cut off.
39But the salvation of the righteous is from Yahweh. He is their mountain stronghold in a time of distress.
40Yes, Yahweh will help them and deliver them. He will deliver them from the wicked and save them, because they have sought refuge in him.
1O Yahweh, do not reprove me in your wrath, nor correct me in your burning anger.
2For your arrows have pierced me, your hand presses hard on me.
3There is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation. There is no wholeness in my bones because of my sin.
4For my iniquities have overpowered me. Like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.
5My wounds stink and have festered because of my foolishness.
6I am bent over and bowed down greatly. I walk about wearing mourner’s clothing all day long.
7For my loins are filled with burning. There is no soundness in my flesh.
8I am numb and severely crushed. I roar due to the groaning of my heart.
9O Lord, all my desire is before you. And my groaning is not hidden from you.
10My heart throbs. My strength has left me. And the light of my eyes, even that is not with me.
11My loved ones and my friends stand back from my plague. My relatives stand far away.
12Those who seek after my soul lay down traps. Those who seek my injury speak destructive things, and they say deceitful things all day long.
13But I, like a deaf man, do not listen. I am like a mute man who does not open his mouth.
14Yes, I have become like a man who does not hear, yes, in his mouth are no reproofs.
15Because in you, O Yahweh, I do hope. You will answer, O Lord my God.
16For I said, “Do not let them rejoice over me.” They magnified themselves over me when my foot slipped.
17For I am ready to fall. Yes, my pain is continually with me.
18For I will declare my iniquity. I am anxious concerning my sin.
19But my enemies are alive and mighty. Those treacherous people who hate me are numerous.
20Those who repay evil for good are my adversaries, because I pursue what is good.
21Do not forsake me, O Yahweh. My God, do not be far from me.
22Hurry to help me, O Lord, my salvation.
1I said, “I will watch my ways so that I do not sin with my tongue. I will keep my mouth with a bridle while the wicked is before me.”
2I was mute with silence. I held my peace, even from good. My sorrow was stirred up.
3My heart was hot within me. While I meditated, the fire burned; I spoke with my tongue:
4“O Yahweh, show me my end, what is the measure of my days. Let me know how frail I am.
5Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths. My lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely every man stands as a breath.” Selah.
6“Surely every person walks like a shadow. Surely they busy themselves in vain. He heaps up and does not know who will gather.
7Now, O Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.
8Deliver me from all my transgressions. Do not make me the reproach of the foolish.
9I was mute. I did not open my mouth, because you did it.
10Remove your scourge away from me. I am overcome by the blow of your hand.
11When you rebuke and correct man for his guilt, You consume his wealth like a moth. Surely every man is but a breath.” Selah.
12“Hear my prayer, O Yahweh, and give ear to my cry. Do not be silent at my tears. For I am a stranger with you, a foreigner, as all my fathers were.
13Oh spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go away and exist no more.”
1I waited patiently for Yahweh. He turned to me and heard my cry.
2He brought me up also out of a desolate pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock; and gave me a firm place to stand.
3He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many will see that and fear, and will trust in Yahweh.
4Blessed is the man who makes Yahweh his trust and does not respect the proud, nor those who turn aside to lies.
5Many, O Yahweh my God, are the wonderful works that you have done, and your thoughts that are toward us. Nothing can be declared back to you. If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
6Sacrifice and offering you did not desire. You have opened my ears. You have not required burnt offering and sin offering.
7Then I said, “Behold, I have come. It is written about me in the book in the scroll.
8I delight to do your will, O my God. Yes, your law is inside my heart.”
9I have proclaimed glad news of righteousness in the great assembly. Behold, I will not seal my lips, O Yahweh, you know.
10I have not hidden your righteousness inside my heart. I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation. I have not concealed your loving kindness and your truth from the great assembly.
11Do not withhold your tender mercies from me, O Yahweh. Let your loving kindness and your truth continually preserve me.
12For innumerable evils have surrounded me. My iniquities have overtaken me so that I am not able to look up. They are more than the hairs of my head. My heart has failed me.
13Be pleased, O Yahweh, to deliver me. Hurry to help me, O Yahweh.
14Let them be disappointed and confounded together who seek after my soul to destroy it. Let them be turned backward and humiliated who delight in my hurt.
15Let those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!” be appalled because of their shame!
16Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let such as love your salvation say continually, “Let Yahweh be exalted!”
17But I am poor and needy. May the Lord think about me. You are my help and my deliverer. Do not delay, O my God.
1Blessed is he who considers the weak. Yahweh will deliver him in a time of distress.
2Yahweh will keep watch over and preserve his life. He will bless him in the land. And will not give him over to the desire of his enemies.
3Yahweh will support him on his sickbed, you restore his entire bed in his illness.
4I said, “O Yahweh, be gracious to me! Heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.”
5My enemies speak evil against me: “When will he die, and his name perish?”
6And even if one comes to see me, he speaks empty words. His heart gathers wickedness to itself. When he goes outside, he tells it.
7All who hate me whisper together against me. They devise injury for me.
8They say, “A word from Belial is poured out upon him. Now that he lies he will rise up no more.”
9Even my close friend whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
10But you, O Yahweh, please show me favor, and raise me up that I may repay them.
11By this I know that you delight in me, because my enemy does not raise a shout of triumph over me.
12As for me, you support me in my blamelessness, and cause me to stand in your presence forever.
13Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting! Amen and amen.
1As the deer pants for the streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.
2My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I come and appear before God?
3My tears have been my food day and night while they ask me all day long, “Where is your God?”
4These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me: for I used to go along with the multitude and led them in a procession to the house of God with the voice of joy and thanksgiving, a crowd keeping the festival.
5Why are you in despair, O my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I will still praise him for the salvation of his presence.
6O My God, my soul is in despair within me. Therefore I remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon, from the mountain of Mizar.
7The depths call to the depths at the sound of your waterfalls. All your surf and your waves have swept over me.
8Yahweh will command his covenant faithfulness in the daytime. In the night his song will be with me, a prayer to my living God.
9I will say to God, my rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go walking in mourner’s clothing because of the oppression from an enemy?”
10As a shattering in my bones, my adversaries reproach me while they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
11Why are you in despair, O my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I will still praise him, he is the salvation of my face, and my God.
1Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an unfaithful people. Deliver me from the deceitful and unjust person!
2For you are the God of my mountain stronghold. Why have you rejected me? Why do I go about in mourner’s clothing because of the oppression of the enemy?
3Send out your light and your truth. Let them lead me. Let them bring me to your holy mountain, to your dwelling place.
4Then I will go to the altar of God, to the God of my exceeding joy. I will praise you on the harp, O God, my God.
5Why are you in despair, O my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I will still praise him, he is the salvation of my face, and my God.
1We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us what work you did in their days, in the days of old.
2You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.
3For they did not get the land in their possession by their own sword, nor did their own arm save them; but your right hand and your arm, and the light of your face, because you were favorable to them.
4You are my King, O God. Command victories for Jacob!
5Through you will we push down our adversaries. Through your name will we tread them under who rise up against us.
6For I will not trust in my bow, neither does my sword save me.
7But you have saved us from our adversaries and have shamed those who hate us.
8In God we have made our boast all day long; we will give thanks to your name forever. Selah.
9But now you rejected us and brought us to dishonor and don’t go out with our armies.
10You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take spoil for themselves.
11You have made us like sheep to be eaten, and have scattered us among the nations.
12You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.
13You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.
14You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
15All day long my disgrace is before me, and shame covers my face
16Because of the taunt of one who reproaches and verbally abuses, because of the enemy and the avenger.
17All this has come on us, yet have we not forgotten you, neither have we been false to your covenant.
18Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path,
19though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals and covered us with the shadow of death.
20If we have forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a strange god,
21won’t God search this out? For he knows the secrets of the heart.
22Yes, for your sake we are killed all day long. We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.
23Wake up! Why do you sleep, O Lord? Arise! Do not reject us forever.
24Why do you hide your face and forget our affliction and our oppression?
25For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body clings to the earth.
26Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness’ sake.
1My heart is stirred up with a noble theme. I recite my deeds for the king. My tongue is the pen of a skilled scribe.
2You are the most beautiful of the sons of men. Grace has been poured upon your lips, therefore God has blessed you forever.
3Strap your sword on your thigh, O mighty one, in your splendor and your majesty.
4Yes, in your majesty ride forth victoriously on behalf of faithfulness, humility, and righteousness. And let your right hand teach you awesome deeds.
5Your arrows have been sharpened— let nations fall under you— piercing the heart of the king’s enemies.
6Your throne is God forever and ever. A scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
7You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of exultation above your peers.
8All your garments smell of myrrh and aloes and cassia. Out of ivory palaces, stringed instruments have made you glad.
9The daughters of kings are among your honorable women. At your right hand the queen stands adorned in gold of Ophir.
10Listen, O daughter; and consider and turn your ear. And forget your own people and also your father’s house,
11and let the king desire your beauty. Bow down to him, for he is your lord.
12The daughter of Tyre will come with a gift. The rich among the people will entreat your favor.
13The King’s daughter is all glorious within her chambers. Her clothing is interwoven with gold.
14She will be led to the king in colorful garments. The virgins, her friends who follow her, will be brought to you.
15With gladness and rejoicing they are to be led. Yes, they will enter into the king’s palace.
16Your sons will take the place of your fathers. You will set them up as leaders in all the earth.
17I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations. Therefore the peoples will praise you forever and ever.
1God is our refuge and protection, a very present help in distressful times.
2Therefore we will not fear, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas,
3though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling. Selah.
4There is a river, the streams of which make the city of God glad, the holy place of the dwelling of the Most High.
5God is in its midst. The city will not be moved. God will help it at dawn.
6The nations roar. The kingdoms are shaken. He gave forth his voice and the earth melted.
7Yahweh of Armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
8Come! See Yahweh’s works, what desolations he has made on the earth.
9He causes wars to cease to the end of the earth. He shatters the bow and chops off the spear. He burns the carts in the fire.
10“Stop! And know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”
11Yahweh of Armies is with us. The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
1Oh clap your hands, all you nations. Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
2For Yahweh Most High is awesome. He is a great King over all the earth.
3He subdues nations under us, and peoples under our feet.
4He chooses our inheritance for us, the glory of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
5God has gone up with a shout, Yahweh, along with the sound of a shofar.
6Sing praise to God, sing praises. Sing praises to our King, sing praises.
7For God is the King of all the earth. Sing praises with understanding.
8God reigns over the nations. God sits on his holy throne.
9The nobles of the peoples are gathered together, the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God. He is greatly exalted!
1Great is Yahweh, and greatly to be praised, in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
2Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth is Mount Zion, on the north sides, the city of the great King.
3God has shown himself in her citadels as a refuge.
4For, behold, the kings assembled themselves, they passed by together.
5They saw it, then they were amazed. They were dismayed. They hurried away.
6Trembling took hold of them there, pain, as of a woman in travail.
7With the east wind you break the ships of Tarshish.
8As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of Yahweh of Armies, in the city of our God. God will establish it forever. Selah.
9We have thought about your loving kindness, O God, in the midst of your temple.
10As is your name, O God, so is your praise to the ends of the earth. Your right hand is full of righteousness.
11Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of your judgments.
12Walk about Zion, and go around her. Number its towers.
13Mark well her bulwarks. Consider her palaces, so that you can tell it to the next generation.
14For this God is our God forever and ever. He will be our guide even to death.
1Hear this, all you peoples. Listen, all you inhabitants of the world,
2both low and high, rich and poor together.
3My mouth will speak words of wisdom. My heart will utter understanding.
4I will incline my ear to a proverb. I will open my riddle on the harp.
5Why should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of those who deceive me surrounds me?
6Those who trust in their wealth, and boast in the multitude of their riches–
7none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give God a ransom for him.
8For the redemption of their life is costly; no payment is ever enough,
9so that he could live on forever; so that he would not see the pit.
10For he sees that wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless perish, and leave their wealth to others.
11Their inward thought is that their houses will endure forever, and their dwelling places to all generations, although they had named their lands after themselves.
12But man, despite his riches, does not endure. He is like the animals that perish.
13This is the destiny of those who are foolish and of those who approve their sayings. Selah.
14They are appointed as a flock for Sheol. Death will be their shepherd. The upright will have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty will decay in Sheol, far from God’s lofty habitation.
15But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, for he will take me from the grave. Selah.
16Do not be afraid when a man is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased.
17For when he dies he will carry nothing away. His glory will not descend after him.
18Though while he lived he blessed his soul– and people praise you when you do well for yourself–
19he will go to the generation of his fathers. They will never see the light.
20A man who has riches without understanding, is like the animals that perish.
1The Mighty One, God, Yahweh, spoke, and he summons the earth from the rising to the setting of the sun.
2Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shone forth.
3May our God come and not keep silent. A fire devours before him. And a raging tempest is around him.
4He calls to the heavens above, and to the earth, to judge his people:
5“Gather my faithful ones together to me, those who have cut a covenant with me with a sacrifice.”
6And the heavens will declare his righteousness, for God himself judges. Selah.
7“Hear, my people, and I will speak; and I will testify against you, O Israel. I am God, your God.
8I do not reprove you for your sacrifices. And your burnt offerings are continually before me.
9I will not take a young bull from your house, nor he-goats from your folds.
10For every living thing in the forest is mine, and the cattle on 1,000 hills.
11I know every bird of the mountains. And everything that moves in the field is mine.
12If I were hungry, I would not tell you; for the world is mine, and all its fullness.
13Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of he-goats?
14Sacrifice to God thanksgiving! And fulfill your vows to the Most High.
15And call on me in times of distress. I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”
16But to the wicked person, God says, “What right do you have to recite my statutes, and to take up my covenant in your mouth?
17For you hate instruction and throw my words behind you.
18When you saw a thief, you were pleased with him, and you shared company with adulterers.
19You harness your tongue to evil. Your tongue frames deceit.
20You sit and speak against your brother. You even slander your own mother’s son.
21You have done these things, and I kept silent. You thought that I was just like you. I will reprove you and make my legal case in front of your eyes.
22Now discern this, all you who forget God, lest I tear you into pieces and there be no one to deliver.
23The one who sacrifices thanksgiving honors me, and prepares his road. I will show him the salvation of God.”
1Show favor to me, O God, according to your covenant faithfulness. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.
2Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3For I know my transgressions. And my sin is constantly before me.
4Against you, you alone, I have sinned, and done what is evil in your eyes; so that you may be justified when you speak and pure when you judge.
5Behold, I was brought forth in guilt. And in sin my mother conceived me.
6Behold, you desire faithfulness in the inward parts. And you declare wisdom to me secretly.
7Purify me with hyssop and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8Let me hear joy and gladness, that the bones that you have crushed may rejoice.
9Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all of my guilt.
10Create in me a pure heart, O God. And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11Do not cast me away from your presence and do not take your holy spirit from me.
12Restore to me the joy of your salvation. And support me with a willing spirit.
13I will teach transgressors your roads. Then sinners will turn to you.
14Deliver me from bloodguilt, O God, the God of my salvation. My tongue will shout with joy concerning your righteousness.
15O Lord, open my lips. Then my mouth will declare your praise.
16For you do not delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You have no pleasure in a burnt offering.
17My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
18Do good in your favor to Zion. Rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
19Then you will delight in the sacrifices of my righteousness; a burnt offering and a whole burnt offering. Then they will offer bulls on your altar.
1Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? God’s covenant faithfulness endures all day long.
2Your tongue plots destruction like a sharpened razor, O worker of deceit.
3You love evil more than good, deception rather than speaking righteous things. Selah.
4You love all words that devour, O tongue of deceit.
5Therefore God will bring you to ruin forever. He will snatch you up and tear you out of your tent, and uproot you out of the land of the living. Selah.
6Then the righteous will see it, and fear, and they will laugh at him, saying,
7“Behold the person who did not set God as his mountain stronghold! Instead he trusted in the abundance of his riches; and he strengthened himself in his evil desire.”
8But as for me, I am like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God. I trust in God’s covenant faithfulness forever and ever.
9I will praise you forever, because you have done this. Yes, I will hope in your name, for it is good, in the presence of your faithful people.
1The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt and have done abominable iniquity. There is no one who does good.
2God looks down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there are any who understood, who seek after God.
3Every one of them has gone back. They have become filthy together. There is no one who does good, no, not one.
4Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon God?
5There they were in great fear, where no fear was, for God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you. You have put them to shame because God has rejected them.
6Oh that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When God brings back his people from captivity, then Jacob will rejoice, and Israel will be glad.
1Save me, O God, by your name. Vindicate me in your might.
2O God, hear my prayer. Listen to the words of my mouth.
3For strangers have risen up against me. Violent men have sought after my soul. They have not set God before them. Selah.
4Behold, God is my helper. The Lord is the one who sustains my soul.
5He will repay the evil to my enemies. Destroy them in your truth.
6With a free will offering I will sacrifice to you. I will give thanks to your name, O Yahweh, for it is good.
7For he has delivered me out of all trouble. My eye has seen triumph over my enemies.
1Listen to my prayer, O God. Do not hide yourself from my supplication.
2Attend to me and answer me. I am restless in my complaint, and moan
3because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked. For they bring suffering on me. In anger they hold a grudge against me.
4My heart is severely pained within me. The terrors of death have fallen on me.
5Fearfulness and trembling have come on me. Horror has overwhelmed me.
6I said, “Oh that I had wings like a dove! Then I would fly away and be at rest.
7Behold, then I would wander far off. I would lodge in the wilderness.” Selah.
8“I would hurry to a shelter from the stormy wind and storm.”
9Confuse them, O Lord, and confound their language, for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
10Day and night they prowl around on its walls. Malice and abuse are also inside her.
11Destructive forces are inside her. Threats and lies don’t depart from her streets.
12For it was not an enemy who insulted me; then I could have endured it. Neither was it he who hated me who raised himself up against me; then I would have hidden myself from him.
13But it was you, a man like me, my companion and my familiar friend.
14We took sweet fellowship together. We walked in God’s house with company.
15Let death come suddenly on them. Let them go down alive into Sheol. For wickedness is in their dwelling, in their midst.
16As for me, I will call on God. Yahweh will save me.
17Evening, morning and at noon, I will cry out in distress. He will hear my voice.
18He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, although there are many who oppose me.
19God, who is enthroned forever, will hear and answer them. Selah. They never change, those who do not fear God.
20He raises his hands against his friends. He has violated his covenant.
21His mouth was smooth as butter, but his heart was war. His words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.
22Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.
23But you, O God, will bring them down into the pit of destruction. Bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days, but I will trust in you.
1Be merciful to me, O God, for man wants to swallow me. All day long, he attacks and oppresses me.
2My enemies want to swallow me up all day long, for they are many who fight proudly against me.
3When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.
4In God I praise his word. In God I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?
5All day long they twist my words. All their thoughts are against me for evil.
6They conspire and lurk; watching my steps, they are eager to take my life.
7Will they escape by iniquity? In anger, cast down the peoples, O God.
8You number my wanderings. You put my tears into your bottle. Aren’t they in your book?
9Then my enemies will turn back in the day that I call. I know this: that God is for me.
10In God I will praise his word. In Yahweh I will praise his word.
11I have put my trust in God. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
12Your vows are on me, O God. I will give thank offerings to you.
13For you have delivered my soul from death, and prevented my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living.
1Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for my soul takes refuge in you. Yes, in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge until disaster has passed.
2I cry out to God Most High, to God who accomplishes my requests for me.
3He will send from heaven and save me; he rebukes the one who is pursuing me. Selah. God will send out his loving kindness and his truth.
4My soul is among lions. I lie among those who are set on fire, even the sons of men whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
5Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be above all the earth!
6They have prepared a net for my steps. My soul is bowed down in distress. They dig a pit ahead of me; but they fall into its middle themselves! Selah.
7My heart is steadfast, God, my heart is steadfast. I will sing, yes, I will sing praises.
8Wake up, my glory! Wake up, psaltery and harp! I will wake up the dawn.
9I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples. I will sing praises to you among the nations.
10For your great loving kindness reaches to the heavens, and your truth to the skies.
11Be exalted, O God, above the heavens. Let your glory be over all the earth.
1Do you truly speak righteousness, O gods? Do you judge uprightly, O children of men?
2No, in your heart you commit injustices. You deal out the violence of your hands into the land.
3The wicked turn aside from the womb. They wander off from the time of their birth, speaking lies.
4Their poison is like the poison of a serpent; like a deaf cobra that closes its ear,
5which does not listen to the voice of snake-charmers; that of a clever chanter of spells.
6O God, break their teeth in their mouth. Break out the young lion’s fangs, O Yahweh.
7Let them float away as water that flows away. When he draws the bow, let his arrows be cut headless.
8Let them be like a snail that melts as it passes by, like miscarriages of a woman that never see the sun.
9Before your pots feel the thorns, the Living One will sweep them away with burning anger.
10The righteous person will rejoice when he sees God’s vengeance. He will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked person
11so that people will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous person. Surely there is a God who judges the earth.”
1Deliver me from my enemies, my God. Set me on high from those who rise up against me.
2Deliver me from the workers of wickedness. Yes, save me from the men of bloodshed.
3For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul. The mighty attack me, not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Yahweh.
4I am without iniquity; they run and have determined themselves. Rouse yourself to meet me and look!
5And you, O Yahweh God of Hosts, the God of Israel, rouse yourself to punish the nations. Do not show favor to all who act unfaithfully in wickedness. Selah.
6They return at evening, growling like dogs, and they walk around the city.
7Behold, they pour out from their mouth. Swords are on their lips; “For who hears us?”
8But you, O Yahweh, laugh at them. You mock all the nations.
9Oh my Strength, I keep watch for you, for God is my stronghold.
10My God will meet me in his covenant faithfulness. God will let me look in triumph over my enemies.
11Do not kill them, lest my people forget. Shake them with your power and bring them down, O Lord, our shield.
12The sin of their mouth and the speech of their lips, let them be captured by their pride, for the curses and lies that they tell.
13Consume them in heat! Consume them and they will be no more. Let them know that God rules in Jacob to the ends of the earth. Selah.
14They return again at evening, growling like dogs and walking around the city.
15They roam about for food. They will stay until they are satisfied.
16But as for me, I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will shout with joy of your covenant faithfulness in the morning. For you have been a stronghold for me, a refuge in my time of distress.
17O my Strength, I will make music to you. For God is my stronghold, the God who shows me covenant faithfulness.
1O God, you have rejected us. You have broken us. You have been angry. Return to us.
2You have made the land quake. You have split it open. Heal its fractures, for it shakes.
3You have made your people experience hardship. You have made us drink the wine that makes us stagger.
4You have given a banner to those who fear you, to be displayed for the sake of truth. Selah.
5So that your beloved people may be delivered, save with your right hand and answer us.
6God has spoken from his sanctuary: “I will triumph. I will divide up Shechem, and measure out the Valley of Succoth.
7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine. Ephraim also is the protection of my head. Judah is my scepter.
8Moab is my wash pot. I will throw my sandal towards Edom. O Philistia, shout in jubilation because of me!”
9Who will bring me into a fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
10Have you not, O God, rejected us? And will you not go out with our armies, O God?
11Give us help against our foe, for the deliverance of man is worthless.
12Through God we will do a mighty work, for it is he who will trample down our foes.
1Hear my lamenting cry, O God. Give attention to my prayer.
2From the end of the earth I will call to you, when my heart is weak. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3For you have been a refuge for me, a tower of strength against the enemy.
4O that I might sojourn in your tent forever. I will seek refuge under the covering of your wings. Selah.
5For you, O God, have heard my vows. You have given me the inheritance of those who fear your name.
6You will add days to the king’s life; may his years be from generation to generation.
7Let him sit enthroned in God’s presence forever. Appoint your covenant faithfulness and truth that they may watch over him!
8So I will make music to your name forever, so that I may fulfill my vows day by day.
1Surely, my soul is quiet for God. My salvation is from him.
2Surely, he is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I will never be greatly shaken.
3How long will you people attack a man? All of you seek to crush him like a leaning wall would, like a tottering fence?
4Surely, they have counseled to throw him down from his lofty position. They delight in falsehood. They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.
5Surely, O my soul, be quiet for God, for my hope comes from him.
6Surely, he is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold. I will not be shaken.
7With God is my deliverance and my honor. The rock of my strength; my refuge is in God.
8Trust in him at all times, O people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Selah.
9Surely, men of low degree are just a breath, and men of high degree are a lie. In the balances they will go up. They are together lighter than a breath.
10Do not trust in oppression. And do not put confidence in robbery. If wealth bears fruit, do not set your heart on it.
11God has spoken once; twice I have heard this, that strength belongs to God.
12Also to you, O Lord, belongs covenant faithfulness, for you will repay a person according to his work.
1O God, you are my God. I will earnestly seek you. My soul thirsts for you. My flesh yearns for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2Yes, I have seen you in the sanctuary; seeing your power and your glory.
3For your covenant faithfulness is better than life, so my lips will praise you.
4Yes, I will bless you while I live. I will lift up my hands in your name.
5My soul will be satisfied as with marrow and fat. My mouth will praise you with joyful lips
6when I remember you on my bed; I will meditate on you in the night watches.
7For you have been my help. Yes, I will shout for joy in the shadow of your wings.
8My soul clings to you. Your right hand supports me.
9But those who seek my soul to destroy it will go into the lower parts of the earth.
10They will be given over to the power of the sword. They will be the prey of jackals.
11But the king will rejoice in God. Everyone who swears by him will boast of him, for the mouth of those who speak lies will be stopped.
