O God, give the king your justice; yes, your righteousness to the king’s son.
May he judge your people with righteousness and your poor with justice.
May the mountains bring peace to the people. And may the hills bring righteousness.
May he judge the poor of the people. May he deliver the children of the needy, and may he crush the oppressive person.
May his days be long as the sun, and in the sight of the moon throughout all generations.
He will come down like rain on the mown grass, as abundant showers drip upon the earth.
May the righteous person flourish in the king’s days, and abundance of peace until the moon is no more.
Yes, may he rule from sea to sea, from the River Euphrates to the ends of the earth.
May those who dwell in the desert bow before him. Yes, may his enemies lick the dust.
May the kings of Tarshish and of the islands bring tribute. May the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts.
Yes, let all kings bow down before him. Let all nations serve him.
For he will deliver the needy person when he cries for help; and the afflicted person who has no helper.
He will have pity on the poor and needy person. And he will deliver the souls of the needy.
He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence. Their blood will be precious in his sight.
May he live long, and may the gold of Sheba be given to him. And may he pray for him continually. May he bless him all day long.
May there be an abundance of grain throughout the land, even on the top of mountains! May its fruits thrive like the cedars of Lebanon. And may those from the city flourish like the vegetation of the earth.
May his name endure forever. May his name sprout forth prior to the sun. May people bless themselves in him. May all nations call him blessed.
Blessed by Yahweh God, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things.
Yes, blessed be his glorious name forever! Yes, let the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and amen.
The prayers by David, son of Jesse, have concluded.
