A meditation of David,
when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, “David has come to Abimelech's house.”

Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? God’s covenant faithfulness endures all day long.
Your tongue plots destruction like a sharpened razor, O worker of deceit.
You love evil more than good, deception rather than speaking righteous things. Selah.
You love all words that devour, O tongue of deceit.
Therefore God will bring you to ruin forever. He will snatch you up and tear you out of your tent, and uproot you out of the land of the living. Selah.
Then the righteous will see it, and fear, and they will laugh at him, saying,
“Behold the person who did not set God as his mountain stronghold! Instead he trusted in the abundance of his riches; and he strengthened himself in his evil desire.”
But as for me, I am like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God. I trust in God’s covenant faithfulness forever and ever.
I will praise you forever, because you have done this. Yes, I will hope in your name, for it is good, in the presence of your faithful people.
