My son, keep my words, and store up my commandments with you.
Keep my commandments and live, and my instruction as the pupil of your eye.
Bind them upon your fingers; write them upon the tablet of your heart.
Say to Wisdom, “You are my sister,” and call understanding, “my relative,”
in order to keep you from the strange woman, from the foreign woman who flatters with her words.
For at the window of my house, I looked down through my lattice,
and I saw among the naïve, and I discerned among the youths a young man lacking sense.
He was passing along the street near her corner, and he was taking steps on the road to her house,
at dusk, in the evening of the day, in the middle of the night and the gloomy darkness,
And look! A woman comes to meet him, dressed as a prostitute and with a cunning heart.
She is boisterous and rebellious; her feet do not stay in her house.
She is now on the street, now in the city square; she lies in wait at every corner.
So she seizes him and kisses him, and shamelessly she says to him,
“I made peace offerings;a today I fulfilled my vows.
So I came out to meet you, to diligently seek your face, and I have found you.
I have spread covers on my couch; embroidered fabrics from Egypt.
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
Come, let’s drink our fill of lovemaking until the morning; let’s delight ourselves with much love.
For my husband is not home; he has gone on a long journey.
He took a bag of silver in his hand; he will come home at the full moon.”
By her great persuasion she seduces him, by the seductiveness of her lips she leads him astray.
Suddenly he walks after her, like an ox goes to the slaughter, like a stag stepping into a snare,
until an arrow pierces his liver. He is like a bird rushing into a trap; and he does not know that his life will end.
And now, O sons, listen to me, and pay attention to the words of my mouth.
Do not allow your heart to turn aside to her ways; do not wander off onto her paths,
for she has caused many men who have been pierced to fall, and numerous are all her slain.
Her house has many roads to Sheol; they are descending to the chambers of death.
