1My son, if you receive my words, and store up my commandments with you,
2making your ear attentive to Wisdom, directing your heart to discernment,
3for if you call out to understanding, if you raise your voice to discernment,
4if you seek her like silver, and search for her like hidden treasure,
5then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, and you will find the knowledge of God.
6For Yahweh gives Wisdom, from his mouth comes forth knowledge and discernment.
7He has stored up sound advice for the upright— a shield for those who walk blamelessly—
8guarding the paths of justice, and watching over the way of his loyal ones.
9Then you will understand righteousness and justice and integrity—every good path.
10For Wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
11discretion will watch over you, and discernment will guard you,
12to deliver you from the way of evil, from the one speaking perverse things,
13from the ones who forsake the upright paths to walk on the roads of darkness;
14from the ones who are glad in doing evil, who rejoice in the perverseness of evil;
15from those whose paths are twisted, and from the devious in their ways;
16and to deliver you from the strange woman, from the foreign woman who is flattering with her words,
17who leaves the mate of her youth, and has forgotten the covenant she made before her God,
18for her house sinks down to death, and her paths lead to the dead.
19All who go to her do not return; they will not reach the paths of life.
20Therefore you are to walk on the road of good people, and you are to keep to the paths of the righteous.
21For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it.
22But the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be uprooted from it.
