1The plans of the heart belong to people, but the answer of the tongue comes from Yahweh.
2All a person’s waysa are pure in his own eyes, but Yahweh examines the motives.b
3Commit your works to Yahweh, and your plans will be established.

12It is an abomination ford kings to commit wickedness because the throne is established in righteousness.
13Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and the one who speaks with integrity will be loved.
14A king’s rage is like messengers of death, but a wise person will pacify the anger.
15In the light of a king’s face there is life, and his favor is like clouds that bring spring rain.
16How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
17The highway of the upright is to turn away from evil; the one who guards his roade is keeping watch over his lifef.
18Pride goes before disaster, and a puffed-up spirit before stumbling.
19Better to be humble in spirit with the poor than to share the plunder with the proud.
20The one who comprehends a wise saying will find good, and blessed is the one who is trusting in Yahweh.
21A person with a wise heart will be called “one who understands,” and the sweetness of his lips will increase persuasiveness.
22Good judgment is a fountain of life for its owner, but the teaching of fools is foolishness.
23The heart of a wise person gives insight to his mouth, and it increases the persuasiveness of his lips.
24Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
25There is a road that seems upright to a person, but its end is roads leading to death.
26A laborer’s appetite labors for him, for his mouth urges him on.
27A man of Belial digs up evil, and the words upon his lips are like a burning fire.
28A perverse person sows strife, and a gossipg separates close friends.
29A violent person entices his neighbor, and he leads him on a road that is not good.
30The one who winks his eyes devises perversions; the one who purses his lips brings evil to pass.
31Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is found on the road of righteousness.
32The one who is slow to get angry is better than a mighty person, and one who rules his spirit is better than one who captures a city.
33The lot is cast into the lap,h but each of its judgments is from Yahweh.
