The Seven Lamps

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
“Speak to Aaron, and tell him: When you light the oil lamps, the seven lamps are to give light in front of the menorah.”
Aaron did so. He lit its lamps to light the area in front of the menorah just as Yahweh commanded Moses.
This was the workmanship of the menorah: it was hammered work of gold. From its base to its flowers, it was hammered work. According to the pattern that Yahweh had shown Moses, that was how he made the menorah.

Cleansing of the Levites

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
“Take the Levites from among the children of Israel and cleanse them.
You must do this to them to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of cleansing on them, then have them shave their whole bodies with a razor and let them wash their clothes and cleanse themselves.

“Then they are to take a young bull and its grain offering, which is fine flour mixed with oil, and you are to take another young bull for a sin offering.
You are to present the Levites before the Tent of Meeting. You are to assemble the whole congregation of the children of Israel.
You are to present the Levites before Yahweh. The children of Israel are to lay their hands on the Levites,
and Aaron is to offer the Levites before Yahweh as a wave offering from the children of Israel, so that they may do the service of Yahweh.
The Levites are to lay their hands on the heads of the bulls, and you are to offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering to Yahweh to make atonement for the Levites.

“You are to set the Levites before Aaron and before his sons and wave them as a wave offering to Yahweh.
Thus you are to separate the Levites from among the children of Israel, and the Levites will be mine.
After that, the Levites may go in to do the service of the Tent of Meeting. So you are to cleanse them and offer them as a wave offering,
because they are wholly given to me from among the children of Israel. Instead of all who open the womb, the firstborn of all the children of Israel, I have taken them for myself.
For all the firstborn among the children of Israel are mine, both man and animal. On the day that I struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I set them apart as holy for myself.
Now I have taken the Levites instead of all the firstborn of the children of Israel.
I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel to do the service of the children of Israel in the Tent of Meeting and to make atonement for the children of Israel so that there will be no plague among the children of Israel when the children of Israel come near to the Holy Place.”

Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel did so regarding the Levites. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses regarding the Levites, so the children of Israel did regarding them.
The Levites purified themselves from sin and washed their clothes, and Aaron presented them as a wave offering before Yahweh; and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them.
After that, the Levites went in to serve in their service-tasks in the Tent of Meeting in the presence of Aaron and in the presence of his sons. Just as Yahweh had commanded Moses regarding the Levites, so they did regarding them.

Retirement of the Levites

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
“This is what applies to the Levites: from 25 years old and upward they are to go in to perform the work in the service of the Tent of Meeting,
and from the age of 50 years they are to cease performing the work of the service and are to serve no more,
but they may assist their brothers in the Tent of Meeting to perform their duty, but they themselves are not to do the work. This is how you are to deal with the Levites concerning their duties.”
