So I said, listen, please, you heads of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel. Are you not supposed to know what is just?
You who hate the good, and love the evil; who tear the skin off of my people, and their flesh from off their bones,
and who eat the flesh of my people and flay their skin from off them, and break their bones, and chop them in pieces as for the pot, and as flesh inside the caldron.
Then they will cry out to Yahweh, but he will not answer them. Yes, he will hide his face from them at that time because of the evil they have done.”
This is what Yahweh says concerning the prophets who lead my people astray; who cry out “Peace” when their teeth have something to bite, but declare war against the one who does not put anything into their mouths:
Therefore it will be night for you—with no vision; and it will be dark for you—with no divination. And the sun will go down on the prophets, and the day will be black over them.
The seers will be put to shame and the diviners humiliated. Yes, they will all cover their lips because there is no answer from God.
But as for me, I am full of power by the spirit of Yahweh; and of judgment, and of might, to declare to Jacob his disobedience and to Israel his sin.
Listen to this, please, you heads of the house of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel, who abhor justice and pervert everything that is right,
who build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.
Her leaders judge for a bribe, and her priests teach for a price, and her prophets offer divination for money; yet they lean on Yahweh and say, “Is not Yahweh in the midst of us? No disaster will come on us.”
Therefore because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps of rubble, and the mountain of the temple like the heights of a forest.
