“Do not judge, so that you are not judged.
For by the standard you judge with, you will be judged, and by the standard you measure with, it will be measured to you.
And why do you see the splinter that is in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the beam that is in your own eye?
Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the splinter out of your eye,’ and Look!, the beam is in your own eye?
You hypocrite, take the beam out of your own eye first, and then you will see clearly to take the splinter out of your brother’s eye.
“Keep asking, and it will be given to you; keep seeking, and you will find; keep knocking, and it will be opened to you!
For everyone who keeps asking receives, and the one who keeps seeking finds, and to the one who keeps knocking it will be opened.
Or which one of you, if his son will ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone,
or if he will ask for a fish, will give him a serpent?
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him?
Therefore, whatever you want people to do to you, so also do the same to them, for this is the law and the Prophets.
“Enter through the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and spacious is the road that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it.
How narrow is the gate, and constricted the road, that leads to life, and few are those who find it.
“Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are destructive, greedy wolves.
You will recognize them by their fruit. Do people gather grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?
In the same way, every good tree brings forth good fruit, but the corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.
A good tree is not able to bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
So then, you will recognize them by their fruit.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven will enter in.
Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’
And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you who work lawlessness!’
“Everyone, then, who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock,
and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat violently against that house, and it did not fall because it had been founded on the rock.
And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a no-good man who built his house on the sand,
and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its fall.”
