And when the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they could go and anoint him.
And very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.
And they were saying to each other, “Who will roll away the stone from the entrance of the tomb?”
And looking up, they noticed that the stone (which was very large) had been rolled away.
And when they entered into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side clothed in a long white robe, and they were alarmed.
And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has been raised! He is not here. Look, there is the place where they laid him.
But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he said to you.”
And after they went out, they fled from the tomb, because trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they did not say anything to anyone, because they were afraid.
[[Now after he rose, early on the first day of the week he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.
She went and told those who had been with him as they were mourning and crying.
And when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe it.
And after these things, he appeared to two of them in a different form as they walked on their way into the countryside.
And they went away and told to the rest, but they did not believe them either.
And afterward he appeared to the Eleven themselves as they reclined to eat, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they did not believe those who had seen him after he had been raised.
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
And these signs will accompany those who believe: they will cast out demons in my name, they will speak in new tongues,
they will pick up snakes, and if they drink anything that is deadly, it will absolutely not hurt them, they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
So then, after the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, and the Lord was working with them and confirming the message by the signs that followed. Amen.]]
