O Yahweh, when you went forth out of Seir,
when you marched out of the field of Edom
the earth trembled,
the heavens also dripped.

“went forth out of Seir.” The poet is calling people’s attention to what God had done around the time of the Exodus and compares it to His mighty deeds in the Judges period (cp. Deut. 33:2).

“field of Edom.” See Genesis 32:3. The Hebrew there is “field,” as here in Judges.
