Far be it from us that we should rebel against Yahweh and turn away this day from following after Yahweh by building an altar for burnt offerings, for grain offerings, or for sacrifices, other than the altar of Yahweh our God that is before his tabernacle!” Bible see other translations

“Far be it.” A single word in Hebrew that is an idiomatic expression and therefore difficult to bring exactly into English. Some scholars would go with “God forbid.”

“before his tabernacle.” The altar of burnt offering was in front of, to the east of, the Tabernacle.
