Jeremiah Chapter 43    

¹And when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking to all the people all the words of Yahweh their God, with which Yahweh their God had sent him to them, even all these words,
  ²then Azariah the son of Hoshaiah and Johanan the son of Kareah and all the proud men spoke, saying to Jeremiah, “You are speaking falsely. Yahweh our God has not sent you to say, ‘You must not go to Egypt to live there,’
  ³but Baruch the son of Neriah has set you against us to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, so that they may put us to death or carry us away captive to Babylon.”
 

⁴So Johanan the son of Kareah and all the leaders of the forces and all the people did not obey the voice of Yahweh to stay in the land of Judah.
  ⁵But Johanan the son of Kareah and all the leaders of the forces took all the remnant of Judah who had returned to live in the land of Judah from all the nations to which they had been driven—
  ⁶the men, and the women, and the children, and the king’s daughters and every person who Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet and Baruch the son of Neriah,
  ⁷and they went into the land of Egypt, for they did not obey the voice of Yahweh; and they went as far as Tahpanhes.
 

⁸Then the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,
  ⁹“Take large stones in your hand and hide them in mortar in the brick pavement that is at the entrance of Pharaoh’s house in Tahpanhes while the men of Judah watch,
  ¹⁰and tell them, ‘This is what Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: behold, I will send and take Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne on these stones that I have hidden, and he will spread his royal pavilion over them.
  ¹¹He will come and will strike the land of Egypt, and deliver the one who is for death to death, and the one who is for captivity to captivity, and the one who is for the sword to the sword.
  ¹²He will light a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt, and he will burn them or carry them away captive, and he will clean the land of Egypt as a shepherd cleans his garment of vermin, and he will leave there unharmed.
  ¹³He will also break the standing-stones of the House of the Sun that is in the land of Egypt, and the houses of the gods of Egypt he will burn with fire.’”
