It came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking everything that Yahweh had commanded him to speak to all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people laid hold on him, saying, “You must die, yes, die.
“die, yes, die.” This is the figure of speech polyptoton. For this translation of the figure, see commentary on Genesis 2:16, “eat, yes, eat.” The figure is the same as occurs in Genesis 2:17.
