He who kills an ox is like he who kills a man;
he who sacrifices a lamb is like he who breaks a dog’s neck;
he who offers an offering is like he who offers pig’s blood;
he who burns frankincense is like he who blesses an idol.
Yes, they have chosen their own ways,
and their soul delights in their abominations.
“He who kills an ox is like he who kills a man.” The context picks up with the prideful people who thought they could do enough in their own ability to go through the motions of sacrifices and offerings to be righteous in God’s sight.
