I sent them to Iddo, the leading man at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should tell Iddo and his brothers, the Temple servants at the place Casiphia,
which was that they should bring ministers to us for the house of our God.
“Temple servants.” These people, the “Nethinim” in Hebrew, were slaves that were serving the Levites in the work of the Temple. See commentary on Ezra 2:43.
