Moreover, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
“And you, O son of man, this is what the Lord Yahweh says to the land of Israel: An end! The end has come on the four corners of the land.
Now the end is upon you, and I will send my anger against you and I will judge you according to your ways, and I will hold you accountable for all your abominations.
And my eye will not spare you, nor will I have pity; but I will bring your ways on you, since your abominations remain in the midst of you. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.
This is what the Lord Yahweh says: A disaster! A unique disaster! Behold, it comes!
An end has come, the end has come! It has awakened against you; behold, it comes!
Your doom has come to you, O inhabitant of the land: the time has come, the day is near, a day of tumult and not of joyful shouting on the mountains.
Now, shortly, I will pour out my wrath on you and spend my anger on you, and I will judge you according to your ways; and I will hold you accountable for all your abominations.
And my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity. I will repay you according to your ways, and for your abominations that are in the midst of you; and you will know that it is I, Yahweh, who strikes.
Behold the day! Behold, it comes! Doom has gone forth! The rod has blossomed, pride has budded.
Violence has grown up into a rod of wickedness. But none of them will remain, none of their multitude, none of their wealth. There will be nothing of value among them.
The time has come, the day has arrived. Do not let the buyer rejoice, or the seller mourn, for wrath is against all their multitude.
For the seller will not regain what he has sold, although the seller and buyer are still alive, for the vision concerns the whole multitude. It will not turn back, nor will anyone preserve his life by his iniquity.
They have blown the shofar and have made everything ready, but no one goes out to battle because my wrath is on all the multitude.
The sword is outside, and the pestilence and the famine are inside. The one who is in the field will die by the sword, and famine and pestilence will devour the one who is in the city.
Even when those who escape of them will escape, they will be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, every one over his iniquity.
All hands will hang limp, and all knees will become like water.
They will also clothe themselves with sackcloth, and horror will cover them. And shame will be on all their faces, and baldness on all their heads.
They will fling their silver into the streets, and their gold will be like an unclean thing. Their silver and their gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of Yahweh. They will not be able to satisfy their appetites nor fill their bellies with their wealth, indeed, it has been the stumbling block that brought about their iniquity.
They have made the beauty of God’s ornaments into their pride, and they made their abominable images and their detestable things from them. Therefore, I have made it an unclean thing to them.
I will give it into the hands of the foreigners as plunder and to the wicked of the earth for a spoil, and they will defile it.
I will also turn my face from them, and they will desecrate my treasured place. Yes, robbers will enter into it and desecrate it.
Make the chain! For the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.
Therefore I will bring the worst of the nations, and they will take possession of their houses. I will also put an end to the pride of the strong ones, and their holy places will be defiled.
Anguish is coming! They will seek peace, but there will be none.
Disaster after disaster will come, and rumor will be upon rumor; and they will seek a vision from a prophet, and the law will perish from the priest and counsel from the elders.
The king will mourn and the ruler will be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the people of the land will tremble. I will do to them according to their way, and according to their own judgments will I judge them; and they will know that I am Yahweh.”
