There will be 12 tribal areas, because the tribe of “Joseph,” one of the 12 sons of Jacob, had two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, and each of them will get a tribal area equal to the land area the other tribes get, and Levi will not get a land area like the other tribes but will have a holy area north of the Temple (Ezek. 48:13-14).
