The soul who sins will die. The son is not to bear the iniquity of the father, nor is the father to bear the iniquity of the son; the righteousness of the righteous will be on himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be on himself. Bible see other translations

This verse says the son will not share the guilt of the father, nor the father share the guilt of the son. But in Exodus 20:5 and Numbers 14:18, the sins of the fathers are visited on the children. In Ezekiel God is telling us that a child is not “accountable” or “liable” for the sins of the father. Whereas the Generational Curse that God speaks of in Exodus 20:5 and Numbers 14:18 is referring to the “consequences” of the sin. The child is not liable for the sin but they still suffer the effects of the sin. For instance, if my dad was an alcoholic I am not held accountable to God for my father’s sin, but I still feel the effects of his alcoholism.
