And the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the house of Yahweh, which faces eastward. And behold, at the entrance of the gate were 25 men, and among them I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azzur and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.
And he said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who plan evil and who give wicked advice in this city,
who say, ‘The time is not near to build houses. This city is the caldron, and we are the meat.’
Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, O son of man.”
Then the spirit of Yahweh fell on me and he said to me, “Say, ‘This is what Yahweh says: This is what you are thinking, O house of Israel, for I know the things that come into your mind.
You have multiplied your slain in this city; you have filled its streets with the slain.’
Therefore this is what the Lord Yahweh says: ‘Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of her, they are the meat, and this city is the caldron; but I will remove you out of the midst of her.
You have feared the sword, and I will bring the sword upon you,’ says the Lord Yahweh.
And I will remove you out of the midst of the city and deliver you into the hands of foreigners, and will execute judgments against you.
You will fall by the sword. I will judge you in the territory of Israel, and you will know that I am Yahweh.
This city will not be your caldron, nor will you be the meat in the midst of it; I will judge you in the territory of Israel,
and you will know that I am Yahweh. For you have not walked in my statutes, nor have you executed my ordinances, but have done according to the ordinances of the nations that are around you.”
And it came to pass while I was prophesying, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down on my face and cried out with a loud voice, and said, “Oh Lord Yahweh! Will you bring the remnant of Israel to a complete end?”
Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
“Son of man, your brothers, even your brothers the men of your relatives, and all the house of Israel, all of them are those about whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘They are far away from Yahweh. This land has been given to us for a possession.’
Therefore say, ‘This is what the Lord Yahweh says: Although I have removed them far away among the nations, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet I have been a sanctuary to them for a while in the countries where they have gone.’
And they will come there, and will take away from it all its detestable things and all its abominations.
I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit inside you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh and will give them a heart of flesh,
so that they walk in my statutes and keep my ordinances, and do them. And they will be my people, and I will be their God.
But as for those whose hearts are devoted to their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their way on their own heads, says the Lord Yahweh.”
Then the cherubim lifted up their wings, and the wheels were beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
The glory of Yahweh went up from within the city and stopped over the mountain that is on the east side of the city.
The Spirit lifted me up and brought me in the vision by the spirit of God into Chaldea, to the exiles there. Then the vision that I had seen went up from me.
Then I spoke to those of the captivity all the things that Yahweh had shown me.
