When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, “Come, make us gods that will go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.” Bible see other translations

“gods.” The Hebrew word Elohim can be “gods” or “a god.” Although Aaron made the people a god, they may have wanted more or the one idol may have represented gods in general.
