You are to observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Seven days you are to eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month Abib (for in it you came out from Egypt). And no one is to appear before me empty-handed.
“Abib.” The first month of the religious year at this time (the first month of the civil calendar was Tishri). Abib was later also called Nisan.
