Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, because Josepha had made the children of Israel swear, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you must carry up my bones away from here with you.”

The text has “he,” but that can be confusing in English
“God will surely visit you.” Joseph had foretold that God would deliver Israel from slavery and directed the Israelites to carry his bones from Egypt to the Promised Land. (See commentary on Gen. 50:24-25; Exod. 3:16).
