Prosperity After Turning to Yahweh

“When all these things have come on you, the blessing and the curse that I have set before you, and you take them to heart among all the nations where Yahweh your God has driven you
and you return to Yahweh your God and listen to his voice in accordance with all that I command you this day, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your soul,
then Yahweh your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you, and he will return to you and gather you from all the peoples where Yahweh your God has scattered you.
If your banished people are in the uttermost part of the heavens, Yahweh your God will gather you from there, and from there he will bring you back;
and Yahweh your God will bring you into the land that your fathers possessed and you will take possession of it; and he will make it go well for you and make you more numerous than your fathers.
Yahweh your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed, to love Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you will live.
Yahweh your God will put all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.
But you, if you will return and obey the voice of Yahweh and do all his commandments that I command you this day,
then Yahweh your God will make you plenteous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your womb, and in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, for your good. For Yahweh will again rejoice over you for good, as he rejoiced over your fathers,
if you listen to the voice of Yahweh your God by keeping his commandments and his statutes that are written in this book of the law; if you turn to Yahweh your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

The Choice of Life and Death

“For this commandment that I command you this day, it is not too hard for you, nor is it far away.
It is not in heaven, so that you have to say, ‘Who will go up for us to heaven and bring it to us and have us listen to it so that we can do it?’
And it is not beyond the sea, so that you have to say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us and have us listen to it so that we can do it?’
But the word is very near to you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.
Behold, I have set before you this day life and good, and death and evil,
in that I command you this day to love Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances in order that you may live and multiply and that Yahweh your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.
But if your heart turns away and you do not listen, but are drawn away and bow down toa other gods and serve them,
I declare to you this day that you will surely perish; you will not prolong your days in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to enter to take possession of it.
Today I call heaven and earth to be witnesses against you, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse; therefore choose life so that you may live—you and your seed—
by loving Yahweh your God, by obeying his voice and by holding fast to him (for he is your life and the length of your days) so that you may live in the land that Yahweh swore that he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”
