Deuteronomy Chapter 22    

¹“You must not see your brother’s ox or his sheep going astray and hide yourself from them; you must surely take them back to your brother.
  ²If your brother is not near to you or if you do not know him, then you are to bring it into the midst of your house and it is to be with you until your brother looks for it; then you can restore it to him.
  ³You must do this with his donkey and you must do this with his clothing, and you must do this with every lost thing of your brother’s that he has lost and you have found; you are not to hide yourself from them.
  ⁴You must not see your brother’s donkey or his ox fallen down by the road and hide yourself from them; you are to lift, yes, lift it up together with him.
 

⁵“There is not to be a man’s things upon a woman, nor is a man to put on women’s clothing, for whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh your God.
 

⁶“If you happen to come across a bird’s nest in any tree or on the ground as you travel on the road, and it has young ones or eggs and the mother is sitting on the young or on the eggs, you must not take the mother with the young;
  ⁷you must set free, set free the mother, but the young you may take to yourself; do this so that it will be well with you, and that you may prolong your days.
  ⁸When you build a new house, then you are to make a railing for your roof so that you do not bring bloodguilt on your house if anyone falls from there.
  ⁹You are not to sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed or the entire yield will be forfeited as holy, both the seed that you have sown and the increase of the vineyard.
  ¹⁰Do not plow with an ox and a donkey together.
  ¹¹Do not wear a mixed cloth; wool and linen together.
  ¹²You are to make yourselves tassels on the four corners of your cloak with which you cover yourself.
 

¹³“If any man takes a wife and goes in to her but then hates her,
  ¹⁴and accuses her of shameful things, and brings on her an evil name, and says, ‘I took this woman, but when I came near to her, I did not find her to have evidence of virginity,’
  ¹⁵then the father of the girl, and her mother, are to take and bring out the evidence of the girl’s virginity to the elders at the gate of the city,
  ¹⁶Then the girl’s father is to say to the elders, ‘I gave my daughter to this man as a wife and he has come to hate her.
  ¹⁷Now, behold, he has accused her of shameful things, saying, “I did not find your daughter to have evidence of her virginity,” but this is the evidence of my daughter’s virginity.’ And they are to spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
  ¹⁸Then the elders of that city will take the man and discipline him.
  ¹⁹They are to fine him 100 shekels^a of silver and give them to the father of the girl, because he has brought an evil name on a virgin in Israel. And she is to remain his wife; he may not divorce her all his days.
  ²⁰But if the matter is true, that the evidence of virginity was not found with the girl,
  ²¹then they will bring out the girl to the entrance of her father’s house and the men of her city are to stone her with stones so that she dies, because she has done a foolish thing in Israel to prostitute herself in her father’s house; so you must purge the evil from the midst of you.
 

²²“If a man is found lying with a woman married to a husband, then they must die, the two of them, the man who lay with the woman and the woman; so you must purge the evil from Israel.
  ²³If there is a girl who is a virgin pledged to be married to a husband, and a man find her in the city and lies with her,
  ²⁴then you must take both of them out to the gate of that city and you must stone them with stones so that they die; the girl because she did not cry out in the city, and the man, because he has humbled his neighbor’s wife. So you must purge the evil from the midst of you.
  ²⁵But if the man finds the girl who is pledged to be married in the field, and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her is to die;
  ²⁶but to the girl you are to do nothing; there is in the girl no sin deserving of death, for just as when a man rises against his neighbor and kills him, so is this matter;
  ²⁷for he found her in the field and the girl pledged to be married cried out but there was none to save her.
  ²⁸If a man find a girl who is a virgin, who is not pledged to be married, and lays hold on her and lies with her, and they are found,
  ²⁹then the man who lay with her must give to the girl’s father 50 shekels^b of silver and she must be his wife, because he has humbled her; he may not divorce her all his days.
 

³⁰“A man is not to take his father’s wife in marriage and must not uncover his father’s skirt.”
