Building the Temple

Then Solomon began to build the house of Yahweh at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah where Yahweh appeared to David his father, which he had prepared in the place that David had appointed at the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
He began to build on the second day of the second month in the fourth year of his reign.
Now these are the measurements that Solomon set for the building of God’s house. The length in cubits (according to the old standard) was 60 cubitsa and the width 20 cubits.b

The Vestibule and the Holy Place

The vestibule that was at the front: its width was 20 cubits,c equal to the width of the house, and the height 120, and he overlaid it inside with pure gold.
The greater house he paneled with fir wood that he overlaid with fine gold, and ornamented it with palm trees and chains.
He decorated the house with precious stones for beauty, and the gold was gold from Parvaim.
He also overlaid the house, the beams, the thresholds, and its walls and its doors with gold, and carved cherubim on the walls.

The Holy of Holies

He made the room of the Holy of Holies; its width was equal to the width of the house, 20 cubits,d and its depth was 20 cubits, and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to 600 talents.
The weight of the nails was 50 shekels of gold. He overlaid the upper rooms with gold.

For the room of the Holy of Holies he made two sculptured cherubim and overlaid them with gold.
The wings of the cherubim totaled 20 cubits long;e one wing of one cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house, and the other wing was five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub.
The wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house, and the other wing was five cubits, reaching the wing of the other cherub.
The wings of these cherubim spread themselves out 20 cubits, and they stood on their feet and their faces were toward the main room.

He made the veil of blue and purple and crimson and fine linen, and he embroidered cherubim on it.

The Bronze Pillars

He also made two pillars 35 cubits high in front of the house, and the capital that was on the top of each of them was five cubits high.
He made encircling chainsf and put them on the tops of the pillars, and he made 100 pomegranates and put them on the chains.
He set up the pillars in front of the temple, one on the right hand and the other on the left, and he called the name of the one on the right hand Jachin and the name of the one on the left hand Boaz.
