David’s Victories

It was after this that David struck down the Philistines and subdued them, and David took the bridle of the mother-city out of the hand of the Philistines.
He struck down Moab and measured them with a rope, making them lie down on the ground, and he measured two rope-lengths to put to death, and one full rope-length to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute.

Then David struck down Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he was going to restore his control along the Euphrates River.
David took from him 1,700 horsemen and 20,000 footmen, and David hamstrung all the chariot horses but reserved enough of them for 100 chariots.

When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down of Syria 22,000 men.
Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became servants to David and brought tribute. And Yahweh saved David wherever he went.

And David took the shields of gold that were upon the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
And from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a very large amount of bronze.

When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had struck down the whole army of Hadadezer,
then Toi sent Joram his son to king David, to greet him and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him down, for Hadadezer had fought wars with Toi. Joram brought with him items of silver and items of gold and items of bronze;
King David also dedicated these to Yahweh with the silver and gold that he dedicated from all the nations that he subdued;
from Edoma and from Moab and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines and from Amalek and from the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

David made a name for himself when he returned from striking down the Edomites in the Valley of Salt, even 18,000 men.
He put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And Yahweh saved David wherever he went.
