And when they came down against him, Elisha prayed to Yahweh and said, “Please strike this people with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.
“blindness.” This is a kind of mental blindness. See commentary on Genesis 19:11. The word for “blindness” is more literally a “blinding light.”
