David’s Military Campaigns

After this David struck down the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
He struck down Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute.

David struck down Hadadezer king of Zobah, toward Hamath, as he went to set up his monument by the Euphrates River.
David took from him 1,000 chariots and 7,000 horsemen and 20,000 footmen, and David hamstrung all the chariot horses but reserved enough of them for 100 chariots.

When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down of the Syrians 22,000 men.
Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became servants to David and brought tribute. Yahweh saved David wherever he went.

David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
From Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took a very large amount of bronze, with which Solomon made the bronze sea and the pillars and the articles of bronze.

When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had struck down the whole army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to greet him and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him down (for Hadadezer had wars with Tou), and he had with him all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze.
King David also dedicated these to Yahweh, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations, from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

And Abishai the son of Zeruiah struck of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt 18,000.
He put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants to David. Yahweh saved David wherever he went.

David reigned over all Israel, and he executed justice and righteousness to all his people.

Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
and Zadok the son of Ahitub and Abimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, and Shavsha was scribe;
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and the sons of David were head administrators around the king.
