The First Epistle of Paul to the Thessalonians

1 Thessalonians Chapter 1

1Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, to the congregation of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace. 2We give thanks to God always for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers, 3continually remembering before our God and Father your work prompted by trust, and labor prompted by love, and endurance prompted by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. 4For we have come to know, brothers loved by God, that you were chosen, 5because our Good News did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in holy spirit, and in much assurance. You know the kind of people we proved to be among you for your sake. 6And you became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word with joy of the holy spirit, despite being in severe affliction, 7so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia. 8For the word of the Lord has sounded out from you, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but your trust toward God has gone out into every place, so that we do not need to say anything. 9For they themselves are reporting concerning us—telling what kind of entering in we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve a living and true God, 10and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised out from the dead, that is, Jesus, our Deliverer from the coming wrath.
